Ricor to bring its ‘personal interactive TV content’ technology to the international market

Ricor, the leading Russian provider of end-to-end interactive TV solutions, has announced its intention to market its Ricor iTV™ technology and products internationally. Ricor iTV is believed to be the world’s first personal ITV platform.

Personalisation is the unique customer advantage that differentiates Ricor’s interactive applications from competitive technologies which emphasise communal viewing. To secure this, Ricor technology is Personal Video Recorder-based (PVR).

Although not a new technology in itself, Ricor has enhanced it with more efficient use of the hard disk drive (HDD), for more than just recording purposes. Ricor’s Set-Top-Boxes (STBs) all have PVR functionality and include some specially developed features, rewind for example, which sets them apart for competitors.

According to Alexei Ostroukhov, Vice President Business Relations, Ricor Holding: “The main driver to take our technology international is that it offers a number of advantages currently unavailable through other products. Essentially our interactive applications have been developed to serve the needs and wants of the individual viewer, an increasing desire expressed by the market”.

“In addition to the conventional interactive TV channels for gaming and services, Ricor iTV advances the technology of the personal channel, personal news and personal advertising, and enables the management of all digital CE devices with the possibility to control them remotely by mobile phone. Importantly, we believe our solutions are more cost-efficient and more scalable for both single and multi channel systems,” he says.

Moreover, Ricor cooperates successfully with STMicroelectronics, Seagate and Conax in the further development of its personal television technologies and set-top boxes. The company’s attendance in September at IBC (International Broadcast Convention) in Amsterdam will mark the first presentation of its technology and products on the international conference and exhibition circuit.
