1e PlasticRoad-fietspad ter wereld geopend
Zwolle, 12 september 2018 - Een wereldprimeur voor de provincie Overijssel en gemeente Zwolle: het eerste PlasticRoad-fietspad ter wereld is vandaag geopend in Zwolle. Gedeputeerde Bert Boerman en wethouder William Dogger fietsen samen met PlasticRoad-bedenkers Anne Koudstaal en Simon Jorritsma als 1e over het fietspad op basis van gerecycled plastic. Het idee werd drie jaar geleden gepresenteerd door wegenbouwer KWS (een Koninklijke VolkerWessels onderneming). Wavin en Total haakten in 2016 aan met hun expertise op het gebied van kunststoffen om het concept door te ontwikkelen tot een daadwerkelijk product. Naast de pilotlocatie in Zwolle volgt in november een tweede pilot in Giethoorn.
