YPAREX B.V. FIRST TO MARKET WITH BIO-BASED TIE LAYER FOR GREENER MULTILAYER PACKAGING
ENSCHEDE, THE NETHERLANDS — August 27, 2012 — Yparex B.V., headquartered here, today announced that it is the first supplier in the packaging industry to develop and commercialize an adhesive tie layer for multilayer packaging films that is bio-based (i.e. produced from plant- rather than petroleum-based raw materials). Since this tie-layer resin is derived from 95% annually renewable resources and is fully recyclable, yet meets the same performance specifications as non-renewable petroleum-based polymer of the same family, it offers packaging manufacturers the opportunity to make their products more sustainable because plant precursors sequestered greenhouse gases during their life cycle. However, it also helps protect the packaging industry’s supply chain from price spikes of materials closely tied to the cost of oil and natural gas.

Advanced Thermoplastic Technology from SABIC Enables Mahindra & Mahindra to Launch India’s First Plastic Fender
SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business today announced that Indian automotive manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), with support from its Tier 1 supplier Plastic Omnium, has developed India’s first injection molded plastic fenders, which are featured on the new critically acclaimed global XUV500 sports utility vehicle (SUV). Upgrading from steel to lightweight, online paintable Noryl GTX* resin helped Mahindra & Mahindra to improve the SUV’s fuel economy, reduce emissions, greatly expand design freedom, and enhance resistance against minor impact. The use of Noryl GTX resin for the fenders helps make the global XUV500 one of the lightest SUVs in its class. This collaboration demonstrates SABIC’s commitment to provide automotive customers with thermoplastic solutions that help drive the development of cutting-edge styling for differentiated designs and improved sustainability through weight-out.

AVERY DENNISON LANÇA NOVA GERAÇÃO DE ETIQUETAS DE POLIIMIDA PARA PLACAS DE CIRCUITO IMPRESSO
Vinhedo, Agosto 2012 – A Avery Dennison do Brasil (NYSE:AVY) já disponibiliza para o mercado local a nova geração de etiquetas em poliimida, ideais para a aplicação em placas de circuito impresso (PCB) devido à resistência a altas temperaturas. A poliimida mantém a integridade física da etiqueta e garante a rastreabilidade do produto durante todo o seu ciclo de vida. “O segredo está na tecnologia deste material que garante que a etiqueta permaneça legível mesmo depois de passar pelas altíssimas temperaturas do processo de soldagem.
