Sidel at CHINA BREW & CHINA Beverage 2008

DSM verdubbelt Stanyl®-capaciteit met opening nieuwe fabriek in Geleen
Koninklijke DSM N.V., de wereldwijde Life Sciences en Materials Sciences-onderneming, maakt vandaag bekend dat de tweede polymerisatiefabriekvoor Stanyl® polyamide 46 op de locatie Chemelot in Geleen in bedrijf is genomen. De nieuwe fabriek betekent een verdubbeling van DSM’s wereldwijde productiecapiciteit voor deze hoogwaardige kunststof. Daarmee speelt DSM in op de blijvend sterke groei die de komende jaren wordt verwacht op basis van de leidende positie van Stanyl® in de elektronicasector en het toenemend gebruik van het materiaal in autotoepassingen als gevolg van de gestegen vraag naar materialen die metalen kunnen vervangen. DSM heeft enkele tientallen miljoenen euro’s geïnvesteerd in de nieuwe fabriek.

SABIC Launches SABIC® STAMAX Light Weight Composites Worldwide for the Global Automotive Industry
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands — September 17, 2008 — To meet increasing demand from the automotive industry for lightweight, high performance long-glass-fiber (LGF) composites, SABIC Innovative Plastics and SABIC PP Automotive today announced the worldwide availability of SABIC® STAMAX polypropylene (PP) LGF resins. DSM Biomedical has obtained ISO 13485 certification in recognition of its quality management systems for its medical coating activities. This ISO certification broadens DSM’s access as a qualified supplier in the medical market. ISO certifications for DSM PTG and Dyneema Purity® were already in place.

St. Luke’s Hospital Positions Patients for Greater Comfort with the Orfit AIO All-in-One Immobilization Solution
At ESTRO 27, the European Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology conference, Orfit Industries announced that St. Luke’s Hospital in Dublin has purchased 11 of Orfit Industries AIO Solution® for patient positioning and immobilization for use with their new Elektra Synergy Linear Accelerators. St. Luke’s, the largest radiotherapy department in the Republic of Ireland, selected the AIO Solution to enhance patient comfort, which can reduce movement and increase the precision of radiation delivery. Although the hospital primarily sought a belly board for pelvic patients, the intention is to use the all-in-one solution for head/neck and thorax/abdomen patients, as well. The AIO Solution, featuring four interchangeable, color-coded cushion sets, provides precise immobilization that is both reproducible yet comfortable.
