OMNEXUS LAUNCHES ROBUST RESEARCH TOOL FOR MATERIALS DATA AND INTEGRATED APPLICATIONS
June 2003 - Omnexus, the global eMarketplace created for the plastics industry by the plastics industry, has launched a global plastics materials database that gives engineers and researchers full property data access to more than 8,000 globally active grades, representing approximately 80 percent of global plastic products, from over 35 leading suppliers, distributors and compounders. Developed in collaboration with M-Base Engineering + Software, the Omnexus Material Data and Applications Center (http://www.omnexus.com/materialdatacenter) also features an integrated applications database that allows users to search by industry segment and polymer type to view photos and data sheets from hundreds of material applications.

Greene, Tweed en Co’s WR® 300 ideale oplossing voor pompafdichtingen op raffinagecomplex
Om een einde te maken aan een hoge mate van slijtage van pompafdichtingen en de bijbehorende lekverliezen op het raffinagecomplex van een grote oliemaatschappij in het Europoortgebied, is door J. de Jong Rotatech gekozen voor slijtringen van Greene Tweeds’s WR® 300. Deze slijtringen zijn gemaakt van een composiet van koolstofvezelversterkt PEEK (polyetheretherketon). Ze bieden een goede bestendigheid tegen chemicaliën, hebben niet-rafelende en niet-vastvretende eigenschappen, een lage wrijvingscoëfficiënt en een goede slagvastheid. Daarnaast is het materiaal goed bestand tegen grote temperatuurschokken.

Borealis invests EUR 200 million in new Borstar® polyolefin capacity
Borealis today announced an EUR 200 million investment in the construction of a new 350,000 tonnes per year polyethylene plant, based on its proprietary Borstar technology, and a 90,000 tonnes per year expansion of the existing Borstar polypropylene plant at its petrochemical site at Schwechat, Austria. The new capacity will come onstream in 2005.
