3B vince il Premio JEC 2009 all’Innovazione nella Categoria Ambiente ed Energia per il Convertitore di Energia Ondosa Oceanica per la Produzione di Energia Marina Rinnovabile.
Battice, Belgio, 24 marzo 2009 – 3B, produttore leader di prodotti in fibra di vetro per il rinforzo di termoplastici e termoindurenti, ha ricevuto insieme a Fred Olsen, Ltd., all’Università di Gand e a Spiromatic, NV il Premio JEC 2009 all’innovazione, categoria Ambiente ed Energia, organizzato a margine del JEC, il salone dei materiali compositi che si tiene a Parigi dal 24 al 26 marzo.

DALLA COLLABORAZIONE TRA EBM-PABST E DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS NASCE UNA VENTOLA INNOVATIVA PER I PROIETTORI A LED DI HELLA
Oggi nei proiettori delle auto si possono usare chip LED avanzati che assicurano una resa luminosa più elevata. Per la loro durata e le dimensioni compatte, i LED sono diventati un’alternativa vantaggiosa alle lampade a scarica di gas, rispetto alle quali offrono livelli di resistenza elevati e inedite possibilità di design. In più, grazie all’elevata efficienza energetica, permettono di risparmiare energia e quindi carburante. Avendo una superficie attiva piuttosto piccola, i chip richiedono però un raffreddamento adeguato, che si ottiene utilizzando ventole ottimizzate in funzione dei requisiti specifici dei proiettori e in grado di assicurare un’affidabilità elevata e una lunga durata.

SABIC Innovative Plastics Continues Collaboration with Hyundai with New i10 Energy Absorbers for Improved Pedestrian Safety
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – March 19, 2009 – A-segment cars, also known as city cars, are growing in popularity due to their fuel-sipping benefits. But the very small size of these vehicles poses challenges to designers, so when designers of the Hyundai i10 – a city car produced by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and targeted for export – were tasked with creating an energy absorber (EA) that would meet stringent European safety regulations for pedestrian lower leg impact, they faced space constraints for the EA, which required an alternative to bulky expanded polypropylene (EPP) foam. Based on Hyundai’s collaboration with SABIC Innovative Plastics on the QarmaQ Advanced Technology Demonstration Vehicle and the development of its Elastic Front safety system concept, HMIL selected Xenoy* polycarbonate/polybutylene terephthalate (PC/PBT) alloy. Because of the superior energy absorption efficiency of Xenoy resin compared to EPP, the HMIL team was able to comply with the EU requirements within the allotted space.

TEAM VAN DSM DYNEEMA IN ROPARUN 2009
URMOND (NL), 18 maart 2009 -Een hardloopteam van medewerkers van DSM Dyneema, van de Site Heerlen en van het kantoor in Urmond (L.), neemt deel aan de achttiende editie van de Roparun. De Roparun is een non-stop estafetteloop waarbij teams van acht lopers in totaal 530 kilometer afleggen van Parijs, via Noord-Frankrijk en België, naar Rotterdam. De start heeft plaats op zaterdag 30 mei in Parijs Le Bourget en op maandag 1 juni, Tweede Pinksterdag, finishen de lopers op de Coolsingel in Rotterdam. De eerste Roparun werd gelopen in 1992 en er deden toen dertien teams mee. In 2009 doen er 275 teams mee.
