CHEMTURA URETHANE PRICE INCREASES FOR EUROPE, AFRICA, MIDDLE EAST
Effective September 1, 2007, or as contracts permit, Chemtura Europe will increase selling prices of most urethane prepolymers and curatives by €0.20/kg in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. These changes are directly related to continuously escalating costs for raw materials, energy and transportation.

Sia gli stampatori a banda stretta che i loro clienti possono beneficiare dei risparmi sui costi resi possibili dalla maggior lunghezza delle bobine di questi nuovi prodotti: da ogni bobina è infatti possibile ricavare un numero più elevato di etichette, il che permette di ridurre i cambi bobina nella linea di etichettatura e di conseguenza i fermi macchina.

QUADRANT EPP’S TIVAR® DRYSLIDE CHUTE CLADDING GETS DHL OUT OF A STICKY PROBLEM
Tielt, Belgium – August, 2007 – Cladding in low-friction ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has solved movement problems on package transport chutes at international express courier company DHL’s sorting centers in the USA and in Europe. TIVAR® DrySlide PE-UHMW is produced by Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP), which also took care of retrofitting many of the chutes.

PPG submits offer to acquire SigmaKalon for approximately €2.2 billion
PITTSBURGH – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) today announced an offer to purchase SigmaKalon Group, a worldwide coatings producer based in Uithoorn, Netherlands, from global private investment firm Bain Capital. The total transaction value, including assumed debt, is €2.2 billion. Bain Capital has granted a period of exclusivity to PPG Industries and intends to respond to the offer after discussions with appropriate employee representative bodies. Should Bain Capital accept the offer, the acquisition would be subject to customary conditions, including receipt of regulatory approval.

PPG to acquire Barloworld Coatings Australia
PITTSBURGH – PPG Industries Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG), has reached agreement to acquire Barloworld Coatings Australia, the architectural paint unit of South African-based Barloworld, Ltd., a multinational industrial brand management company. Completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of required regulatory approvals. Terms were not disclosed.

Le attrezzature e gli apparecchi medicali che generano raggi X e raggi gamma devono essere adeguatamente schermati per garantire la protezione di operatori, specialisti e pazienti e quella dei componenti elettronici sensibili contro le perdite di tubazioni e la dispersione delle radiazioni. I composti GE LNP* Thermocomp* per schermatura contro le radiazioni ad alta densità forniscono soluzioni di schermatura contro i raggi X senza ricorrere all'uso di sostanze tossiche conosciute, garantendo allo stesso tempo libertà di progettazione e maggiori volumi produttivi a prezzi inferiori per componente attraverso l'impiego dello stampaggio ad iniezione.
