Hitachi Automotive Systems Europe, Ltd. ha scelto una miscela di polibutilene tereftalato (PBT) Arnite® rinforzato di DSM Engineering Plastics per corpo sensore flussometro di massa stampato per iniezione destinato ai motori Audi. Il grado Arnite TV4 261, un PBT rinforzato con il 30% di fibra di vetro che offre una combinazione di proprietà essenziali per questo tipo di applicazione, quali eccellente fluidità, stabilità dimensionale a lungo termine, rigidità, robustezza e resistenza agli agenti chimici garantite entro un’ampio intervallo di temperature. Per la produzione è richiesto esclusivamente lo stampaggio; la ricottura, finalizzata all’eliminazione delle sollecitazioni interne che potrebbero comportare lo svergolamento, non è quindi necessaria.

Asian PPG Industries Ltd. to acquire auto refinish business of ICI India Ltd.
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 20, 2007 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ICI India Ltd., Mumbai, India, to facilitate the acquisition of ICI’s premium automotive refinish business. Upon closing, the business would be acquired by Asian PPG Industries Ltd., a 50 percent joint venture of PPG and Asian Paints Ltd., also of Mumbai. The closing is scheduled for mid-March and is subject to certain conditions. The transaction is valued at approximately $12 million.

CHEMTURA INCREASES METAL ALKYL PRICES
Due to continued operational and capital cost demands, Chemtura Corporation will increase the prices of the neat portion of its aluminum alkyl products by 25%. Pricing for the neat portion of its Magnesium and Zinc alkyl products will be increased by 100%. These price increases will be effective April 1, 2007, or as contracts allow. For solvent blends, higher solvent purchase costs will be reflected in the blend pricing.

Gand, Belgio – 5 marzo 2007 – Il Gruppo Sumitomo Bakelite annuncia l’acquisizione di Neopreg AG, produttore svizzero di compositi termoindurenti a fibre lunghe commercializzati sotto i marchi Kinel e Neonite. Neopreg, che ha sede centrale a Gelterkinden, utilizza per la produzione di questi compositi una tecnologia unica nel suo genere e complementare alle tecnologie utilizzate dal business attuale dei compositi di specilità di Sumitomo. Neopreg sarà integrata in Vyncolit N.V., la filiale di Sumitomo che produce compositi di stampaggio in Europa, ma manterrà la ragione sociale. A capo della società è stato posto, dal 19 febbraio 2007, Henny van Dijk, Presidente di Vyncolit N.V.
