GE supporta gli impegni ambientali globali con una plastica innovativa destinata al mercato dell'energia solare
BERGEN OP ZOOM, PAESI BASSI – 4 novembre 2005 - l'impennata dei prezzi del gasolio per riscaldamento, della benzina e del gas naturale porta in primo piano la necessità di sviluppo di fonti d'energia alternativa rinnovabile come la tecnologia solare. L'energia solare, utilizzata sia per la conversione in elettricità (fotovoltaica), sia per il riscaldamento dell'acqua calda sanitaria, può fungere da fonte d'energia primaria o secondaria per uso domestico e industriale, l'illuminazione esterna e molte altre applicazioni. Da un punto di vista ambientale, presenta vantaggi significativi rispetto ai combustibili fossili e viene promossa da numerosi governi.

DuPont appoints Distrupol as its distributor in the Baltic States
Distrupol, a leading European polymer distributor, technical service and solutions provider, has been appointed sole distributor for DuPont’s Engineering Polymers business in the Baltic States. The agreement, which is effective from November 1, covers the distribution of DuPont’s engineering plastics throughout Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Distrupol will provide in-region resources to ensure the same high standard of service enjoyed by its customers across Europe.

Bekaert acquires Southwest Screens & Filters, a leading player in filter applications for the polymer industry
Bekaert has acquired Southwest Screens & Filters SA for an enterprise value of € 6 million. With production facilities in Sprimont (Belgium) and just outside Jakarta (Indonesia), Southwest realises annual sales of € 10 million. The company employs 125 people and is one of the world players in metal fibre based industrial process filters. These filters are used mainly in the polymer industry for filtering possible impurities out of the molten raw material during the production process, to ensure the good quality of the synthetic fibre or film.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, OLANDA - 28 ottobre 2005 - Nell'ambito della nuova iniziativa aziendale ecomagination*, GE - Plastics introduce la nuova lastra avanzata Lexan* Margard* MR5 IR. Si tratta di un nuovo tipo di materiale costituito da lastre in policarbonato (PC) con un esclusivo rivestimento protettivo (hardcoat) superficiale, particolarmente adatto al settore dei trasporti pubblici e caratterizzato da un assorbimento infrarosso (IR) nella gamma di lunghezze d'onda 780-1400 nm. Grazie alla gestione efficiente del calore della componente infrarossa delle radiazioni solari che colpiscono bus, treni e altri mezzi di trasporto pubblico e veicoli speciali, tale materiale di GE favorisce il risparmio energetico, la protezione dagli effetti dannosi dei raggi UV e la trasmissione della luce. In questo modo si riduce l'assorbimento di calore e i costi dei sistemi di condizionamento dell'aria nei giorni caldi e soleggiati, garantendo, nel contempo, l'isolamento necessario per trattenere il calore e abbassare i costi del carburante nei giorni freddi e nuvolosi.
