(Photo © 2022 by AFFIX Labs)In the global efforts to combat insect borne diseases, non-profit organizations and governments have looked towards residual indoor spraying as one of the tools to fight mosquito carried diseases like Malaria, Dengue, and Chikungunya. The approach leaves a thin layer of pesticides on walls inside residential spaces. The big downside to traditional residual indoor sprays is that they are classified as hazardous. Repeltec, a new coating developed by AFFIX Labs, a Finnish technology start-up, aims to be the safest indoor residual spray on the market to repel insects.

Solvay Expands Its US-Based Sulfone Polymers Business

Solvay has announced a major expansion plan to boost its production capacity for sulfone polymers in support of a growing global customer base in life-saving and life-sustaining application markets. First steps in this initiative will add more than 25% of capacity for both Udel® polysulfones (PSU) and basic dichlorodiphenyl sulfone (DCDPS) at the company’s production sites in the United States by 2024.

SABIC et Dongfeng Motors, l’un des principaux constructeurs de camions chinois, ont collaboré à la mise au point d’une nouvelle solution hybride composite plastique destinée à la fabrication d’une caisse à outils légère et solide pour camion. L’application est fabriquée en associant un polypropylène renforcé fibre de verre longue, à savoir la résine STAMAX™ de SABIC, avec des inserts d’un laminé composite renforcé fibre de verre, en une seule opération de surmoulage.SABIC, une des premières entreprises mondiales du secteur de la chimie, a annoncé ce jour avoir travaillé avec Dongfeng Motors, l’un des principaux constructeurs de camions chinois, pour mettre au point une nouvelle solution hybride composite plastique destinée à la fabrication d’une caisse à outils légère et solide, montée sur le véhicule. L’application est fabriquée en associant un polypropylène renforcé fibre de verre longue, à savoir la résine STAMAX™ de SABIC, avec des inserts d’un laminé de composite renforcé fibre de verre, en une seule opération de surmoulage. La réduction de poids de la pièce finie peut atteindre 30% par rapport à une pièce similaire réalisée en métal. La solution a en outre permis à Dongfeng de réduire ses coûts de production.
