GE Power Conversion to Power, Propel and Position Hornbeck Offshore's Two Latest Multipurpose Supply Vessels at Eastern Shipbuilding Group
PARIS-June 4, 2013-GE's Power Conversion business (NYSE: GE) announced today it has been awarded a contract by the Eastern Shipbuilding Group in Panama City, Fla., to supply integrated diesel-electric power, propulsion and vessel control systems for two multipurpose supply vessels (MPSVs) with installed horsepower of 12,070 BHP (9,000 kW). Eastern will build the MPSVs for Hornbeck Offshore Services of Covington, La.

Belden présente la nouvelle plate-forme logicielle 8.0 de la gamme Hirschmann
Neckartenzlingen, Allemagne - 4 juin 2013 - Belden Inc., l'un des principaux fournisseurs mondiaux de solutions de transmission de signaux pour les applications stratégiques, lance une nouvelle version de la plate-forme logicielle de sa gamme Hirschmann : la version 8.0. Cette version étend considérablement les fonctions des commutateurs gérés des séries MACH, MICE, Rail et Octopus. Selon la série, les nouvelles fonctions comprennent des outils spéciaux, par exemple un serveur IEC61850 pour une intégration aisée dans les réseaux de données liée à la production et à la distribution d’énergie. Avec un profil de puissance PTP selon IEEE C37.238, ces réseaux peuvent être synchronisés avec beaucoup de précision. Grâce à la prise en charge des Jumbo Frames, permettant le recours aux données utilisateur de manière optimale, des applications vidéo haute résolution peuvent être développées. Outre des extensions pour Profinet et Ethernet/IP, cette version récente offre pour les quatre gammes de commutateurs, d’autres mécanismes de reconnaissance des situations de surcharge, des procédés optimisés de diagnostic, documentation et chiffrement. Ainsi, la plate-forme logicielle 8.0, qui comme la version précédente prend en charge des fonctions complètes de gestion, diagnostic et filtrage ainsi que différents procédés de redondance, mécanismes de sécurité et applications en temps réel, est particulièrement adaptée aux applications dans le domaine de l’Energie, de la Pétrochimie et du Gaz, dans le secteur de l’Automobile.

GE and BELECTRIC Partner to Power Tomorrow's Green Energy
PARIS - June 3, 2013 - Less than one year after developing and delivering the first 1,500-VDC ProSolar central inverter technology to solar power plant system integrator BELECTRIC, GE's Power Conversion (NYSE: GE) business has signed an agreement with the aim to install more than 100 of this type of new and innovative inverter by the end of the year. The agreement represents the first step by the companies to join forces in developing innovative solar solutions for the utility solar market.

Clariant achieves a further milestone in the manufacture of second-generation bioethanol
Muttenz, June 3, 2013 - Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is demonstrating the international potential of its process for manufacturing sustainable biofuel through the expansion of sunliquid® technology to further agricultural residues. Following the opening of Germany’s largest demonstration plant for manufacturing ethanol from agricultural residues in July 2012, the company now has new findings, which show that corn stover, the most valuable raw material in North America, and sugarcane bagasse, a cellulose-rich by-product of sugar and ethanol production in Latin America and Asia, can also be converted efficiently in the process. European wheat straw has primarily been used to date, and has delivered good results that have even exceeded the expectations of the process developers in some aspects.

National Chemistry Olympiad 2013 at SABIC
