SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Tough Ultem* HU1004 Resin Validated as Top Material of Choice for Multiple Sterilization Capabilities vs. PPSU
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – July 6, 2011 – SABIC Innovative Plastics today announced third-party test results that validate the multiple sterilization capabilities of its remarkably tough Ultem* HU1004 polyetherimide (PEI) resin. This high-performance resin – previously utilized for other techniques and now tested for use with the STERRAD® NX® low-temperature hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization – gives healthcare providers the flexibility to choose any major method for sterilizing trays, electronic medical devices and other applications. The data revealed that Ultem HU1004 resin has significant performance and aesthetic advantages – in particular, ductility and color stability – over competitive materials such as polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) that are used for STERRAD® NX® sterilization. Ultem HU1004 resin’s validation underscores SABIC Innovative Plastics’ commitment to providing its healthcare customers with the highest quality materials to meet their needs for process simplification and performance.

La fibre Ultem* PEI de SABIC Innovative Plastics fait ses débuts, grâce à la société Japan Wool Textile, dans une nouvelle gamme de vêtements professionnels, unissant confort et protection
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Pays-Bas – 30 juin 2011 – SABIC Innovative Plastics a annoncé aujourd'hui que sa fibre polyéthérimide Ultem* (PEI) souple et à haute performance Ultem* a trouvé une importante nouvelle application dans le domaine des vêtements professionnels et des vêtements de protection hauts de gamme. La société Japan Wool Textile, une division du groupe NIKKE, combine désormais la fibre Ultem avec de la laine ainsi que d'autres matériaux afin de produire du fil, des étoffes et des vêtements qui offrent une combinaison inédite de confort et de protection, dont une résistance aux flammes (FR) permanente et non halogénée, et une parfaite résistance aux ultraviolets (UV). Contrairement aux matériaux traditionnels aramides, la fibre Ultem peut être aisément colorée et de manière économique, dans un large éventail de tons, grâce à des processus conventionnels de teinture de polyester, ce qui permet à la société Japan Wool Textile d'accroître l'attractivité esthétique de sa nouvelle gamme.
