ROHM AND HAAS AWARDED GRANT TO DEMONSTRATE NEW CATALYST TECHNOLOGY FOR BIODIESEL PRODUCTION
SHANGHAI, CHINA, November 1, 2007 -- Rohm and Haas was pleased to accept a grant in the amount of $752,000 through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program. The grant supports Rohm and Haas's development of a newly commercial polymeric catalyst technology, AMBERLYST™ BD20 specialty catalyst. The AMBERLYST™ BD20 technology allows the production of biodiesel from inexpensive low-quality feed stocks without sacrificing the purity needed in the end product.

DSM Biomedical Chairs Session on Antimicrobial Surfaces at BioInterface 2007
SAN MATEO, Calif. – Oct. 31, 2007 – At the BioInterface 2007 Workshop and Symposium, Aylvin Dias, Ph.D, R&D program manager for DSM Biomedical, will chair a double session on antimicrobial surfaces with emphasis on biofilms, biofouling and biocidal approaches. This session will be attended by a number of industrial and academic opinion leaders to discuss the latest developments on and challenges to medical device associated infections. During the session, Dr. Dias will introduce ComfortCoat™, DSM’s new coating that addresses catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).

Le composite Tegris de Milliken surfe sur la vague du succès en étant le matériau le plus léger et le plus solide destiné aux équipements nautiques, il est utilisé aujourd’hui pour la fabrication de kayak. En effet, les développements effectués sur le composite 100 % polypropylène (PP) de Milliken, tant d’un point de vue produit que procédés, ainsi que la collaboration étroite entre Milliken et la société américaine Legacy Paddlesposts, basée à Greensboro (Caroline du Nord), ont permis l’utilisation du Tegris pour la réalisation du Kayak Ultimate de Legacy Paddlesports.

DuPont Performance Elastomers (DPE) has announced that effective January 1, 2008, in order to serve its customers more effectively, DuPont™ Vamac® ethylene acrylic elastomers and Viton® fluoroelastomers will be combined within DPE. The new market-facing group, called V Solutions, will provide customers with a broader range of solutions, greater flexibility and improved efficiency when evaluating materials and developing solutions for sealing and hose applications.

(AICM) and China Petroleum and the Chemical Industry Association (CPCIA) from October 30 to November 1, 2007, in Shanghai. SABIC Innovative Plastics renforce ses capacités de plaque Lexan* face à la demande croissante de la clientèle et des marchés
Düsseldorf, Allemagne – 24 octobre 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics procède actuellement à d’importants investissements pour étendre ses capacités de production de plaque pleine et de plaque multi paroi en polycarbonate Lexan*, destinées aux marchés de l’industrie et du BTP en Europe, au Moyen Orient et en Afrique. Trois usines vont être concernées par ces extensions : Vienne, Milan et Bergen op Zoom, en vue de faire face à la demande croissante d’applications de vitrage, de toiture, de signalétique et autres émanant notamment d’Europe de l’est et de Russie. Le démarrage des nouvelles lignes de production est prévu dans le courant du 3è trimestre 2008. Les produits concernés sont les systèmes de plaques spéciales Lexan Thermoclick*, Thermoroof* et Thermopanel*, ainsi que la plaque Lexan pleine et la plaque Lexan Thermoclear* multi paroi.
