Borealis evaluates possible closure of HDPE plant in Norway
In an extraordinary Board meeting in Borealis AS today, it was decided to inform the Borealis AS Supervisory Board in an extraordinary meeting February 13 about the ongoing evaluation of the future of the Borealis high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Bamble, Norway. A potential closure of the plant in 2006 is one of the options being considered.

Offerte à la ville de Turin par les 300 000 employés de GE dans le monde, l'œuvre y restera exposée jusqu'à la fin des jeux.

DSM Dyneema Achieves ISO 13485 Certification for Dyneema® Purity Fiber Operations
Urmond (NL), January 31 – DSM Dyneema, the inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber, today announced its Dyneema® Purity operations have been certified under the international ISO 13485:2003 standard. Dyneema® Purity, an ultra-high-molecularweight polyethylene fiber that is, weight for weight, 15 times stronger than steel, is used in high-performance medical applications such as orthopedic surgery sutures. Supplementing the ISO 9001 standard, ISO 13485 provides certification of a quality management system dedicated to medical devices.

DSM material innovation improves bobsleigh stability
The bobsleighs to be used by the Dutch Olympic Team at the Olympic Games in Turin contain special DSM vibration dampers that make the bobsleigh more stable. This reduces the risk of steering errors and means that better times can be achieved. The vibration dampers reduce the number of vibrations in the bobsleigh runners to 40% compared with the dampers traditionally used for bobsleighs.

TRANSPARENCE ET SOLIDITE POUR LES COUVERCLES DES COFFRETS BOCARD DE BOPLA GRACE AU PC XANTAR® DE DSM
BOPLA Gehäuse Systeme GmbH (Bünde, Allemagne) a sélectionné le polycarbonate Xantar® de DSM Engineering Plastics pour les couvercles transparents de sa gamme Bocard de coffrets en plastique pour matériels électroniques. Le panneau transparent du couvercle, est fabriqué à partir du grade de Xantar 22 R 01001. Les couvercles sont conformes à la norme IEC 529 IP65 et protègent contre la poussière et les projections d’eau à basse pression, grace en partie à l’excellente stabilité dimensionnelle de la résine utilisée. De plus, la transparence durable du Xantar permet de surveiller l’équipement logé dans le coffret Bocard et sa résistance au choc le protège contre le bris et la pénétration de corps étrangers. Le Xantar est classé UL-94 V2 à 1,5 mm et le grade 22 R 01001 se distingue par sa bonne fluidité et sa grande facilité de démoulage qui facilitent la fabrication.
