GREAT LAKES INCREASES PRICE FOR KP-140 SPECIALTY ADDITIVE
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced a worldwide price increase of 18 percent where contracts allow of its KP-140® specialty additive. The increase takes effect with all shipments from January 10, 2005, or as contracts allow. This price increase is necessary to keep pace with escalating global raw material and energy costs.

Strategies in China
Brussels December 21st, ECMSA (European Chemical Marketing and Strategy Association) and CWD (Chemical World Database) announced that they will run a one day conference in Brussels on March 15th 2005 to explore the chemical industry’s experiences of China. Focusing on the actual experience of those businesses that have ridden the China investment boom and the prospects for consumer driven demand for chemicals the conference will set out to explore the pro’s and con’s associated with investment in China. The conference will be held under the auspices of CEFIC and with the support of the VCI. This event is being organised by the chemical industry for the chemical industry.

STRIX FAIT CONFIANCE AU STANYL® DE DSM POUR LES CONNECTEURS THERMIQUES UTILISES DANS LA NOUVELLE CAFETIERE EXPRESSO MOCCA DE BODUM
Le Stanyl® TE250F6 de DSM Engineering Plastics, polyamide 46 (PA46) haute température renforcé 30 % fibres de verre est le matériau utilisé pour le dispositif interrupteur/voyant lumineux et organe de commande de la cafetière expresso Mocca de Bodum. Derrière le panneau décoratif, un système thermostatique entraîne une tige poussoir qui, à son tour, actionne le levier du système de contrôle intégral U44 de Strix, ainsi que le système de chauffe de l’eau de la cafetière, fixé à la base de l’appareil. Dans la mesure où l’organe de commande en Stanyl est obligatoirement situé proche de la source de chaleur de la cafetière, le concept exploite les propriétés mécaniques du Stanyl. Ces dernières incluent une résistivité électrique élevée en surface et en volume, une rigidité et une résistance à des températures de 140°C, une résistance à la fatigue et une bonne aptitude à la transformation.
