GREAT LAKES INCREASES PRICES OF ALL BROMINE AND PHOSPHORUS SPECIALTY CHEMICALS
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced it will increase prices worldwide by up to 20 percent for all bromine and phosphorus based specialty chemicals within its Polymer Additives division, with the exception of phosphite antioxidants, effective for shipments May 24, 2004, or as contracts allow. These price increases are in addition to all other increases previously announced.

AGRIPLAST MEETS LARGE PRODUCTION CHALLENGES WITH ECO-BROM® MULTI-LAYER FILMS CO-EXTRUDED WITH DSM AKULON® XP
AGRIPLAST (Vittoria, Italy) turned to DSM Engineering Plastics for a solution to a multi-faceted challenge. AGRIPLAST needed an agricultural plastic film that was strong enough to resist puncture by stones and stubble, wide enough for the most intensive mechanized farming, and impermeable to methyl bromide or alternate soil sterilization and fumigation gases.

DSO CHOISIT LE CAOUTCHOUC ANTIMICROBIEN ELASTOGUARD® DE MILLIKEN POUR LES PIECES DE RECHANGE DE MATERIELS VITAUX DE LA FABRICATION DES PRODUITS ALIMENTAIRES ET LAITIERS
IRVINGTON, New-Jersey (Etats-Unis), 29 avril 2004 – La société DSO Fluid Handling Co., Inc. a annoncé ce jour qu’elle avait ajouté à son offre les mélanges caoutchoucs Elastoguard® du pôle Specialty Elastomers de Milliken Chemical, une division de Milliken & Company (Spartanburg, Caroline du Sud), lesquels sont destinés à maximiser la protection antimicrobienne des pièces en caoutchouc utilisées dans les matériels de fabrication des produits alimentaires, notamment les rotors de pompe, les tiges de soupapes pneumatiques, les billes de clapets anti-retour, les garnitures d’étanchéité des tuyauteries sanitaires et les joints toriques. Univar signs contract to provide chemical distribution and sourcing of all DSM European operations
Rotterdam, The Netherlands – May 1, 2004 – Univar Europe, a business unit of Univar N.V., the leading chemical distributor in the world, has been named a preferred distributor/supplier in Europe for DSM, the leading worldwide supplier of life science and nutritional products, performance materials and industrial chemicals. The contract builds on strongly optimising the Total Cost of Ownership and covers all European sites of DSM. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

DSM announces significant Akulon® expansion for new flexible packaging application
The capacity expansion - by over one third - follows a complete upgrade and capacity increase that took place less than 5 years ago. The new production capacity will be dedicated to the production of high viscous polyamide 6, which is used in flexible packaging, stockshapes and mono-filament production.
