Clariant successfully completes restructuring in 2010; profitability to further improve in 2011
• Full-year sales up 13% in local currency and 8% in CHF
• Operating income margin before exceptional items of 9.8% compared to 4.1% in 2009
• Cash flow from operations of CHF 642 million after CHF 757 million in the previous year
• Net debt reduced from CHF 545 million in 2009 to CHF 126 million
• Net income amounted to CHF 191 million compared to a net loss of CHF 194 million in 2009
• 2011 Outlook: Clariant expects a stable business environment in 2011, with growth mainly coming from the emerging markets. Based on this scenario, Clariant forecasts local currency sales growth in the low single-digit range and an EBITDA margin before exceptional items above that of 2010.

SABIC se asocia a SCHÜTZ para desarrollar HDPE granulado rentable y de altas prestaciones para recipientes IBC
Sittard, Holanda, 15 de febrero de 2011 – SABIC, uno de los líderes mundiales del sector de los plásticos, ha anunciado hoy que su material de altas prestaciones HDPE ICP4907S SABIC® para recipientes industriales ya está comercialmente disponible. Este revolucionario polietileno de alta densidad (HDPE) —desarrollado en colaboración con SCHÜTZ, un fabricante puntero de productos de embalaje industrial— se ha concebido para el moldeo por soplado de grandes recipientes para granel (IBC, por sus siglas en inglés) de 1.000 litros o incluso más. La resina HDPE ICP4907S SABIC® combina un equilibrio extraordinario entre rigidez y resistencia al impacto con una resistencia química (ESCR) óptima. Especialmente relevante resulta la elevada fluidez de este material que proporciona un excelente comportamiento durante la transformación, así como una potencial reducción de costes.

DSM Dyneema social media competition in full sail
At just about the halfway stage, DSM Dyneema’s campaign to recruit 40 sea-faring skippers to test rigging made with Dyneema® and share their experiences online through social media is picking up a high response. 300 skippers so far have registered, with over 2,000 crewmembers and almost 700 Facebook fans following the competition.
