BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 2 de marzo de 2010 – La estructura del nuevo Aviva Stadium de Dublín llama tanto la atención que quizá los aficionados al rugby y al fútbol que lo visiten acaben fijándose más en ella que en el resultado del partido. Las transparentes y curvilíneas paredes se han construido con la placa de policarbonato (PC) Lexan* Exell D de SABIC Innovative Plastics, que no sólo es resistente y prácticamente irrompible, sino que también destaca por su elegancia, sus altas prestaciones y sus grandes ventajas medioambientales. En reconocimiento a la contribución estratégica de la placa Lexan y su tecnología para el éxito del proyecto, la Asociación europea de fabricantes de placa de policarbonato (EPSE) ha otorgado a SABIC Innovative Plastics el premio de 2009 a la innovación y al mejor proyecto. Éste es el segundo galardón EPSE concedido a SABIC Innovative Plastics. En 2008, la empresa lo consiguió en la categoría de «Mejor innovación» por la estación de metro de Carmes de la ciudad francesa de Toulouse, cuyo techo también está fabricado con la placa Lexan Exell D. SABIC Innovative Plastics continúa invirtiendo en nuevos materiales como la placa Lexan Exell D, a los que considera claves para ayudar a los diseñadores y constructores de edificios a alcanzar el éxito.

COPERATION BETWEEN BOZZIO, DSM, BERN UNIVERSITY AND DYNAMIC TEST CENTER BRINGS SAFER MOBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
The joysteer® X-by-wire system with precision gears made of Stanyl® PA 46 resin from DSM Engineering Plastics is now in commercial production for the handicapped market and available from car modification companies in Switzerland, Germany and the Benelux. This rapid development from prototype to successful commercialisation was achieved by the Swiss company Bozzio within record time of just three years. In this period, Bozzio obtained the strictest level of safety approvals for the European market (TÜV approval according to ECE-R 13H braking system and ECE-R 79 steering system), making joysteer®x-by-wire commercially available to provide people with a disability a user-friendly solution to drive a car with safety and confidence. This is the first system with such a high safety level.

Belden Expands its Hirschmann™ Portfolio with Three New MACH100 Devices: Rugged Gigabit Ethernet Workgroup Switches
These new Gigabit Ethernet switches, characterized amongst others by fanless (passive) cooling, can be used for connecting workgroups to the backbone in production environments using twisted-pair cables as well as optical fibers. Each of the three versions, designated MACH104-20TX-F, MACH104-20TX-FR and MACH104 TX-F-4PoE, provides 20 RJ45 ports (10/100/1000 BASE-TX) as well as four combination ports (100/1000 BASE-FX) for SFP fiber optic transceivers.

DSM AND MCC SIGN CONTRACTS TO EXCHANGE POLYCARBONATE AND POLYAMIDE BUSINESSES
DSM Engineering Plastics, a business group of the Netherlands-based Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company Royal DSM N.V., today announces that it has signed the contracts with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) enabling DSM to acquire MCC’s Novamid® polyamide business in exchange for DSM’s Xantar® polycarbonate business.
