HIGH PERFORMANCE OFFSHORE APPLICATIONS BASED ON NEW FLUOROSINT® ENHANCED PTFE GRADES FROM QUADRANT DEMONSTRATED AT OFFSHORE EUROPE 2009
Quadrant’s range of enhanced PTFE materials available in full production sizes has been broadened with the addition of two new grades: Fluorosint HPV and Fluorosint MT-01. Fluorosint HPV, especially developed for highly demanding oil & gas applications, is a mica-filled high performance bearing grade that can deliver a pressure velocity (PV) performance improvement of more than 40 % over other PTFE materials according to in-house tests conducted by Quadrant. Parts made of Fluorosint HPV can withstand higher load and velocity while delivering better wear resistance, enabling longer part life compared to existing PTFE-based materials. The product was especially developed to meet the demands of high performance bearing applications where other, low-tech PTFE formulations would exhibit premature wear or can not perform. These characteristics open up interesting new options for engineers and manufacturers.

Clariant wins $20m contract for China oil field integrated services
September 7, 2009 - Clariant Oil Services, a division of Clariant Chemical (China) Ltd, has been awarded a three-year contract by ConocoPhillips China Ltd to provide a range of integrated services for its operations at the Peng Lai 19-3 oil field at Bohai Bay in northern China.

Clariant sells specialty silicones business to affiliate of GenNx360 Capital Partners
CHARLOTTE, N.C., August 31, 2009 - Clariant has sold its specialty silicones business, including its Gainesville Florida facility, to SiVance LLC, an affiliate of New York-based GenNx360 Capital Partners. GenNx360 is a private equity firm focused on industrial business-to-business companies.`Financial terms of the transaction, which is effective September 1, were not disclosed.

La resina Noryl FR de SABIC Innovative Plastics ayuda a las lavadoras Vestel a cumplir con la nueva Normativa CEI gracias a su respeto con el medio ambiente
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 27 de agosto de 2009 – Vestel White Goods ha elegido la resina Noryl* retardante a la llama (FR) NH6020 de SABIC Innovative Plastics, que reúne los nuevos y más estrictos requisitos del estándar 60355 de la Comisión Electrotécnica Internacional (CEI) para electrodomésticos automáticos, para asegurarse de que sus lavadoras sean competitivas en el mercado internacional. Vestel, uno de los principales fabricantes de electrodomésticos de Turquía, ha sustituido una poliamida FR halogenada que se utilizaba en la fabricación de los soportes de las placas de circuito impreso por la resina Noryl NH6020. De ese modo, ha logrado satisfacer los nuevos requisitos de la CEI sin tener que utilizar aditivos FR clorados o bromados. Además, el uso de este innovador material les ha permitido mejorar la calidad de la pieza y reducir los desechos, con la consiguiente reducción de los costes del sistema. Al garantizar la certificación CEI y la retardancia a la llama sin el uso de halógenos, SABIC Innovative Plastics ayuda a clientes como Vestel a ganar terreno a sus competidores y les da la posibilidad de expandirse a nuevos mercados.
