BERGEN OP ZOOM, PAÍSES BAJOS — 21 de junio de 2007 — Manteniendo su estrategia de entrada y crecimiento en nuevos mercados globales gracias a las avanzadas tecnologías de materiales, GE Plastics ha instalado una línea de hilatura de fibras por fusión a alta temperatura de Hills, Inc. en su Centro de Desarrollo de Procesamiento de polímeros (PPDC) en Pittsfield, Massachussets, EE.UU. El nuevo equipo, que ampliará las capacidades de la organización de Tecnología de Aplicaciones Globales (GApT) de la empresa, se utilizará para evaluar los materiales y optimizar las condiciones de procesamiento con el fin de obtener fibras de bajo denier (2 – 6 dpf) con la resina de poliéterimida (PEI) de altas prestaciones y retardante de llama Ultem* de GE, así como con otras resinas de alta temperatura. Al optimizar el proceso de hilatura por fusión usando sus materiales de alta calidad, GE Plastics podrá ofrecer nuevas opciones a los fabricantes de tejidos y textiles para que cumplan los restrictivos requisitos de fuego, humo y toxicidad.
