TOLEDO, Ohio, EE.UU. – 18 de octubre de 2006 - En la exposición internacional Composites & Polycon 2006, que se llevó a cabo en St. Louis, Missouri, EE. UU., Owens Corning (NYSE:OC) presentó tres nuevos productos de su familia de refuerzos termoplásticos de alto desempeño PerforMax®, que ofrecen una baja liberación de gas, mayor resistencia a la hidrólisis y otras propiedades mecánicas atractivas, como una mayor firmeza y resistencia a la fatiga en comparación con productos similares de la competencia. Owens Corning anuncia el lanzamiento de la fibra triturada MicroMax™, una tecnología de refuerzo de avanzada para termoplásticos de alto desempeño
Toledo, Ohio, EE.UU. - 18 de octubre de 2006 - Owens Corning (NYSE:OC) anunció hoy, en la exposición Composites & Polycon 2006, el lanzamiento global de su último desarrollo en el área de refuerzos. Se trata de las fibras trituradas de diámetro delgado MicroMax™, un producto que cambiará las reglas del juego y permitirá obtener piezas termoplásticas ultradelgadas de alto desempeño. Los refuerzos MicroMax permiten crear piezas con paredes de un espesor hasta un 40% inferior al de las piezas fabricadas con fibras de vidrio estándar. Este material permitirá continuar la tendencia de miniaturización de los componentes electrónicos de avanzada y lograr mayores mejoras en el desempeño.

Distrupol, ENGEL and STV will unravel the complexities of multi-component injection moulding at the forthcoming ENGEL Moulders’ Group Technology Event, Wednesday 15th November 2006 in Warwick, UK.
This free-of-charge morning seminar, to be repeated in the afternoon, will feature presentations and practical demonstrations to help the moulders to get to grips with multi-component moulding. There will be particular focus on the use of the Babyplast bolt-on injection unit as a low cost, flexible alternative for achieving 2K injection moulding on standard and existing machinery.

BOSTON, Mass., Oct. 16, 2006 – DSM, a Netherlands-based company active worldwide in performance materials, announced today it is introducing its newest and strongest ballistic material for soft body armor. The new Dyneema® SB61 offers ultra-high energy absorption to provide significantly increased stopping power, as well as the same high level of trauma reduction and aging behavior as other Dyneema® soft ballistic products. The announcement was made at the 2006 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in Boston.
