GE presenta un nuevo film blanco de Ultem* que elimina la necesidad de un revestimiento opaco en las etiquetas de códigos de barras
BERGEN OP ZOOM, HOLANDA — 24 de mayo de 2006 — GE – Plastics, con la colaboración de sus clientes de diversas partes del mundo, ha encontrado la respuesta a la demanda de los clientes de un film de plástico opaco y de altas prestaciones capaz de eliminar la necesidad de un tratamiento superficial para aportar un contraste satisfactorio de la impresión en las etiquetas de códigos de barras: el nuevo grado blanco de su film de PEI (polieterimida) Ultem*. El film Ultem WH217 es un material pigmentado de alta opacidad que facilita la lectura de cualquier etiqueta de código de barras, al proporcionar un índice de contraste de las barras impresas del 98%. Este film, además de ahorrar a los fabricantes de etiquetas el tiempo y el dinero que invierten en la aplicación de un recubrimiento de acabado opaco, proporciona las propiedades de retardo de llama de las que carecen los films PEN de la competencia, y además aporta resistencia a las temperaturas elevadas y una estabilidad dimensional superior a los films de fluoruro de polivinilo. Para desarrollar este proyecto, GE - Plastics colaboró estrechamente con algunos de los fabricantes más importantes del mundo de adhesivos y films sensibles a la presión, para obtener sus comentarios y sugerencias durante el desarrollo del producto.
