GREAT LAKES INCREASES ANTIMONY TRIOXIDE FLAME RETARDANT PRICES
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced that effective for shipments after March 29, 2004, where contracts allow, the company will increase the price for all grades of antimony trioxide by $0.15/lb in the Americas and by $330/MT in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The price for other antimony derivatives will also increase dependent upon antimony content. This price increase is in addition to the increase of $0.25/lb in the Americas and $550/MT in Europe and the Asia Pacific region that took effect January 23, 2004.

February 24, 2004—Owens Corning Automotive (UK) Ltd., a member of the Owens Corning family of companies, has acquired the automotive assets of UK-based Lancaster Fibre Technology Ltd. Lancaster Fibre Technology has traditionally supplied automotive solutions to the UK auto industry based on Owens Corning’s Silentex® Noise Control automotive silencer technology. Owens Corning has been a Lancaster supplier and customer for many years.

DSM Engineering Plastics ha lanzado Arnite® XL, nuevo grado de tereftalato de polibutileno (PBT) diseñado para los embellecedores de los faros delanteros de los automóviles. Arnite® XL es muy rígido y resistente, posee excelente fluidez y comparado con otros productos, permite fabricar una pieza determinada con menos material. Más importante todavía, Arnite® XL no emite gases a altas temperaturas, no se deforma y puede metalizarse al vacío sin pretratamiento.
