DSM Biomedical Chairs Session on Antimicrobial Surfaces at BioInterface 2007
SAN MATEO, Calif. – Oct. 31, 2007 – At the BioInterface 2007 Workshop and Symposium, Aylvin Dias, Ph.D, R&D program manager for DSM Biomedical, will chair a double session on antimicrobial surfaces with emphasis on biofilms, biofouling and biocidal approaches. This session will be attended by a number of industrial and academic opinion leaders to discuss the latest developments on and challenges to medical device associated infections. During the session, Dr. Dias will introduce ComfortCoat™, DSM’s new coating that addresses catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).

DUPONT PERFORMANCE ELASTOMERS ANNOUNCES THAT VITON® AND VAMAC® WILL JOIN TO FORM “V SOLUTIONS”
DuPont Performance Elastomers (DPE) has announced that effective January 1, 2008, in order to serve its customers more effectively, DuPont™ Vamac® ethylene acrylic elastomers and Viton® fluoroelastomers will be combined within DPE. The new market-facing group, called V Solutions, will provide customers with a broader range of solutions, greater flexibility and improved efficiency when evaluating materials and developing solutions for sealing and hose applications.

SABIC Innovative Plastics baut Produktionskapazität für Lexan* Platten aus, um auf die steigende Nachfrage des Marktes einzugehen
Düsseldorf – 24. Oktober 2007 – SABIC Innovative Plastics investiert in den Ausbau seiner Produktion einfacher und mehrwandiger Lexan* Polycarbont Platten für die Segmente Bau und Industrie in ganz Europa, dem Mittleren Osten und Afrika. Im Rahmen seiner Strategie, für kontinuierliches Wachstum seiner technischen Kunststoffe zu sorgen, baut das Unternehmen zusätzliche Produktionslinien an den drei Standorten Wien, Mailand und Bergen op Zoom, um der wachsenden Nachfrage nach Lexan Strukturverglasung, Dächern, Schildern und anderen Anwendungen in Osteuropa, Russland und anderorts Rechnung zu tragen. Die neuen Produktionslinien sollen bis zum dritten Quartal 2008 fertig gestellt werden. Zu den Produkten gehören Lexan Thermoclick*, Thermoroof* und Thermopanel* Spezialplattensysteme sowie die mehrwandigen Lexan Thermoclear* Platten und die einfachen Lexan Platten.
