Oktober 2005 — Ganz im Sinn der neuen ecomagination*-Initiative des Unternehmens stellt GE - Plastics seine innovativen neuen Lexan* Margard* MR5 IR-Platten vor: das erste hartbeschichtete Polycarbonat (PC)-Plattenprodukt von GE für die Verkehrsindustrie mit Infrarot (IR)-Absorption im Wellenlängenbereich von 780-1400 nm. Durch effiziente Abschirmung von Bussen, Zügen und anderen öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln und Sonderfahrzeugen vor der Infrarotwärmestrahlung des Sonnenlichts hilft dieses neuartige Produkt von GE beim Energiesparen und schützt vor schädlicher UV-Strahlung bei gleichzeitig guter Lichtdurchlässigkeit. An sonnigen, heißen Tagen werden die Fahrgasträume weniger aufgeheizt und die Kosten für den Betrieb von Klimaanlagen sinken. Andererseits bietet Lexan Margard MR5 an kalten oder bewölkten Tagen eine gute Wärmeisolierung und sorgt so für einen geringeren Kraftstoffverbrauch.

Borealis and Novolen enter into license agreement and will jointly develop metallocene single-site polymerisation catalysts
Borealis and Novolen announced today that they have entered into a license agreement allowing Novolen’s metallocene single-site polypropylene (PP) technology rights to be available to Borealis. This agreement grants Borealis access to Novolen’s metallocene PP patent rights to manufacture single-site polymerisation catalysts to produce Borealis metallocene PP solutions. In addition, both parties have entered into joint development agreement to further develop metallocene single-site polymerisation catalysts for use in bulk PP polymerisation processes. Both companies are strongly committed to innovation and play a leading role in the plastics industry.
