Owens Corning Automotive is making sound progress in the development of an integrated composite speaker panel that will make automotive distributed mode loudspeakers (DMLs) commercially viable in the near future. The composite speaker panel offers numerous benefits to OEMs, including lower systems costs, increased space savings, greater design flexibility, and weight reduction. A prototype of OC™ Automotive’s high-performance, cost-effective integrated composite speaker panel will be on display at the JEC 2003 Composites Show.

OC™ Automotive to Showcase Industry Milestone in SUV Composite Applications at JEC 2003 Composites Show
A Sport Utility Vehicle featuring a front-end module comprised of composites materials is an industry first that will be on display at the Owens Corning booth at the JEC 2003 Composites Show. The module is found on the 2003 Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg and features StaMax™ P long glass fiber polypropylene thermoplastic, an application developed by StaMax BV. This innovative composite solution is lighter, stronger and can be more cost effective than its steel counterpart.
