PETER GARFORTH CORPORATE VICE PRESIDENT, STRATEGY BUSINESS AND DEVELOPMENT COMPOSITE SOLUTIONS BUSINESS OWENS CORNING
Peter Garforth was named corporate vice president, Strategy and Business Development in July, 2000.
Mr. Garforth joined Owens Corning in January 1998 as vice president of marketing for its Composite Systems Business and was later named vice president, Strategy and Business Development for the Composite Systems.
Mr. Garforth began his career as an applications engineer with Hewlett Packard in the UK. In 1972 he joined Honeywell, where he worked in the Medical Electronics, Test Instruments and Home & Buildings businesses. During his career with Honeywell, Mr. Garforth held many positions including product specialist, product manager, business planning manager and marketing director.
After 20 years with Honeywell, Mr. Garforth joined Landis & Gyr in Switzerland in 1992, where he was instrumental in developing a market segment oriented business approach in the company’s Building Control Business. Mr. Garforth held key management assignments with Landis and Gyr, included vice president, marketing; general manager and vice president residential buildings; corporate transformation manager, and vice president of Central and Eastern Europe.
As a result of his interest in promoting energy efficiency as a profitable business opportunity, Mr. Garforth has served as the co-chairperson of the International Advisory Committee of the Alliance to save Energy in Washington, D.C. Mr. Garforth is also a founding member of the European Business Council for a Sustainable Energy Future; a member of the Steering Committee on Energy Efficiency Financing of the Russian Federation; chairman of the Executive Committee of IIEC; board member of the Composite Fabricators Association and he serves on the boards of three Owens Corning joint ventures. Mr. Garforth earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
