Omnexus enhances global transaction platform to simplified 3-step order process

Coupled with New UltraLite Technology, New System Offers Companies Complete Package for Transition to eProcurement

ATLANTA (June 17, 2002) – Global plastics eMarketplace Omnexus has upgraded its online procurement system to significantly reduce the number of steps in the ordering process, and offer online plastics buyers increased flexibility by adding change order functionality. The improvements result from direct customer and supplier feedback compiled through a User Experience Project spearheaded by Omnexus in late February 2002.

The simplified process now requires only three steps for plastics buyers to initiate orders with one or multiple suppliers using a single online order template. Coupled with the Omnexus eMarketplace’s new UltraLite technology, which allows companies to upload their order files to their suppliers’ order systems and avoid double entry, Omnexus presents a complete solution for companies transitioning from traditional order methods to online procurement.

“The Omnexus eMarketplace’s simplified three-step order process will significantly improve the buyer’s experience, in great part due to the valued input of current Omnexus customers and suppliers who participated in our User Experience Project,” said Michael J. Walsh, interim CEO, Omnexus. “The new order system allows our current customers a greater ease of navigation and flexibility throughout the order process.”

Buyers using the Omnexus eMarketplace will benefit from several enhancements to the order system, including:

 A simplified, three-step order process, with substantially reduced mouse clicks and screens.

 Change order capabilities, initiated by the buyer.

 Enhanced order processing options, including automatic order creation and submission features.

 Easy search functionality that lets buyers quickly find their orders.

 Extensive online reporting features, showing real-time status of all submitted orders.

Omnexus relied on extensive feedback from several of its current customers and suppliers in designing the new simplified order process. The initiative, called the User Experience Project, was launched as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement based on the needs and requests of its growing membership base. Currently, Omnexus counts more than 17,000 plastics professionals in its online community, who use the eMarketplace to buy and sell plastics-related products, find and offer information on services, conduct technical research and stay abreast of current industry news.

Founded in 2000, Omnexus continues to develop new eMarketing services that are valuable to the plastics community. Recent additions include: the surPLUS Center, a searchable catalog containing the listings of excess inventory from branded resin suppliers; the TechCenter, a global knowledge management system that puts plastics processors in direct contact with technical experts from multiple suppliers; and the Commerce Center, which provides a unique marketing channel for companies targeting the plastics industry to reach the industry’s largest online community.
