Omnexus Launches Plastic Industry’s First Multiple-Supplier Equipment Site In German, Extends Global Reach of eMarketplace to Equipment Buyers, Manufacturers
ZURICH and DÜSSELDORF (25 October, 2001) - Omnexus, the global, neutral eMarketplace created by the plastics industry for the plastics industry, has launched a full German-language version of its new Equipment eMarketplace, the industry’s first online site allowing customers to compare information and request quotations on equipment from multiple international manufacturers in a neutral environment. The German version of the Omnexus Equipment eMarketplace, the latest offering from the plastic industry’s most comprehensive global online resource, officially debuted today at the K 2001 in Düsseldorf.
The Omnexus Equipment eMarketplace is a highly efficient, neutral resource for buyers of processing equipment to search for and compare technical specifications across a broad range of machinery. Currently, Omnexus features products from three of the world’s largest plastics equipment manufacturers-Engel of Austria, Demag Ergotech of Germany, and U.S.-based Van Dorn Demag-with others planning to follow in the coming months.
“The German-language release of our Equipment eMarketplace is a natural and vital extension to Omnexus, aligning with the company’s strongest value as a comprehensive global resource for the plastics industry,” said David Jukes, senior vice-president of Omnexus. “While we soon plan to offer the Equipment eMarketplace in additional languages, German was the logical first extension because of the representation of our regionally-based equipment manufacturers, Engel and Demag Ergotech.”
The Omnexus Equipment eMarketplace uses powerful engineering and sales process automation software to offer buyers, for the first time in the plastics industry, the ability to:
conduct multi-dimensional searches by machine parameter, keyword or supplier;
submit requests for quotations (RFQs) for processing machinery, matching
specific search requirements to multiple, global suppliers;
view detailed product information and dimensional drawings;
have direct connectivity to OEMs for shorter purchasing cycle times; and
access equipment information in real-time and browse related documents.
Omnexus also plans to develop online aftermarket services on the Equipment eMarketplace. This feature will allow buyers on Omnexus to select and order spare parts and aftermarket services in real-time from multiple suppliers, the first such online offering in the plastics industry.
Omnexus maintains its global reach by offering its site in languages including English, German, French and Spanish. In addition, the company recently released its Version 3.0 software, an enhanced business-to-business technology platform allowing for multi-lingual exchanges of information, automated conversion of weights and measures, and transactions in all of the world’s currencies. The enhanced technology provides for completely automated negotiation and commerce collaboration, in real-time on a real world basis, between Omnexus suppliers and customers.
