4 February 2025 – Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has collaborated with Zwiesel Glas, a Bavarian-based producer of high-quality crystal glassware, to develop bespoke packaging for its ‘Handmade’ collection. The range, known for its craftsmanship and fine design, required packaging that reflects the same standard of quality and precision.
Zwiesel´s ‘Handmade’ collection features delicate, mouth-blown glassware. In its Grünburg corrugated solutions plant in Austria, Mondi designed packaging that protects the fragile items while providing a premium unboxing experience. The outer packaging is made from 190g uncoated containerboard paper with offset printing, embossed with the Zwiesel Glas logo and silver foil accents. Inside, flexo-printed layers add a refined aesthetic touch.
The packaging underwent several iterations to ensure it met Zwiesel Glas’s standards, resulting in a final design that combines durability with a tactile finish to enhance the product’s presentation. Created specifically for the ‘Handmade’ collection, Mondi’s solution not only complements the craftsmanship of the glassware but also ensures that customers receive a product that reflects the quality and care inherent in Zwiesel Glas’s manufacturing process.
Lisa Müller, Director Brand & Product Management at Zwiesel Glas, commented: “Our handmade pieces are designed to create memorable moments. The packaging plays an integral role in delivering this experience from the first interaction.”
Mondi and Zwiesel Glas have worked together since the 1980s, focusing on packaging solutions that align with Zwiesel Glas’s evolving needs. Their collaboration was recently acknowledged with the Wellpappe Austria Award 2024 in the ‘Newcomer’ category for a custom suitcase design developed for a new product line.
