Mondi enables Büromodel to cut operational packing costs by 20%

  • 20% reduction in operational packing costs and time savings through the switch from wooden and plywood crates to corrugated packaging.
  • Reduced health and safety risks while improving storage and transport efficiency.
  • Seamless integration into existing operations without the need for additional capital investment.

21 July 2026 – Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has collaborated with furniture manufacturer Büromodel to develop a tailor-made corrugated packaging solution for shipping acoustic office cabins across Europe and beyond, delivering significant gains in operational efficiency.

Traditional wooden and plywood crates presented challenges in terms of health and safety risks and were becoming less preferred in key export markets such as Germany and the UK. Mondi worked closely with Büromodel to switch to a bespoke corrugated packaging solution that ensures safe transportation and improved product protection. The solution eliminates mould issues that had previously been experienced during sea freight transportation.

The transition has delivered multiple operational improvements, including more efficient use of storage space and enhanced logistics performance through a stackable design. Compared to Büromodel’s former in-house wood-based crate production process, the corrugated solution is easier and faster to assemble and pack, reducing the assembly time and labour intensity.

The new packaging integrates seamlessly into Büromodel’s existing production and logistics processes without requiring additional investment. It reduces packing costs by approximately 20%, mainly driven by lower material and operational costs compared to wooden packaging.

Beyond operational efficiency, the new solution has contributed to increased end-user satisfaction and strengthened Büromodel’s brand perception. The use of recyclable corrugated packaging supports Büromodel’s environmentally responsible positioning and has generated positive feedback from customers.

Sinan Müsellim, Procurement Manager at Büromodel, commented: “Moving away from wooden packaging was a strategic decision for us. Mondi’s team understood our operational requirements and worked with us to find a solution we could trust across different markets. That confidence in the packaging is just as important as the efficiency gains.”

Metin Morhayim, Sales and Marketing Director at Mondi Corrugated Turkey, added: “This project shows what is possible when packaging is treated as part of the customer’s operation, not just a protective layer. By working closely with Büromodel, we were able to design a solution that fits their processes and supports their business needs.”
