At CHINAPLAS 2011 (booth 11.2L41), Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics emphasises its focus on developing PC materials that meet the changing needs of end users, whilst at the same time supporting product development activities of its customers. One key segment is Power Distribution.
Following the integration in 2010 of XANTAR® Polycarbonate & Blends in the Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics (MEP) portfolio, the company has been able to significantly boost its global presence in the Power Distribution Segment (PD). Highly suited for key Power Distribution applications such as Wiring Accessories, Cable Management, Industrial Control Gear and Low Voltage Switch Gear, XANTAR® has a successful track record and a well established position at the major players in this field.
The XANTAR® Polycarbonate & Blends portfolio ranges from glass fibre reinforced, impact-modified and halogen-free flame retardant grades to speciality materials such as XANTAR® XRM and XANTAR® LDS, featuring superior mechanical and processing properties, enhanced long-term stability and a high degree of consistency with excellent colour stability.
Operating from a European base, MEP Europe uses local proprietary production locations and local staff to pro-actively support globally operating customers around the world, with a number of strategic benefits. Serge Peleton, Global Account Manager E&E/PD at Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics, says: “With XANTAR® Polycarbonate & Blends we have a unique position. Thanks to our global network we are able to serve our customers in the Asia Pacific area from our European and Asian XANTAR® production facilities. We intend to extend our activities in the Power Distribution market with locally produced material - both for extending running business and new projects and product developments.”
Underlining MEP’s position as a dedicated global partner for innovative added value, Hans Guns, Business Manager XANTAR® at Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics, says: “Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics traditionally already has a strong position in Polycarbonate products, which is now further extended with the high-end XANTAR® Polycarbonate & Blends portfolio, giving customers an even wider choice of product options.”
Mr. Guns concludes: “MEP will be able to further extend its presence in Power Distribution with planned additional production and compounding capacity in the Asian venue due to come on stream in the coming years.”
