Vehicle collision repair – OEM finish first time, every time

Düsseldorf, Germany – Henkel’s TEROSON® and LOCTITE® collision repair products achieve the best of both worlds – an OEM-standard finish in the shortest amount of time. These repair, rebuild and replacement products have been developed to be completely reliable, simple, and quick to use; saving time and money and creating a finish that ensures excellent durability and corrosion resistance.

A number of products are available in its established TEROSON and LOCTITE ranges to help aftermarket repair shops achieve this perfect OEM finish.

One system for all seams
Rebuilding an OEM seam, for example, is a time- and resource-saving alternative to replacing parts. However, the rebuilt seam must not only offer a showroom finish, it must also prevent corrosion and the ingress of moisture and dirt. Such a task therefore demands the application of an innovative yet proven product offering attributes like low shrinkage, the potential to apply by spraying, easy smoothing in the event of imperfections during application, and tolerance of spot-welding operations.

Henkel’s driving brand in this field is TEROSON, a range which includes sealing products, dispensing equipment and nozzles that enable body shops to recreate original OEM seams, regardless of whether a smooth, wavy or rippled finish is required.

The flagship product TEROSON MS 9320 SF is an SMP-based chemical-curing sealant. Available in different colour choices, this innovative product can be painted over just 30 minutes after application. TEROSON MS 9320 SF offers good stability, is free of isocyanate and silicone, and provides impressive adhesion to many different surfaces without primer. The product also gives good resistance to UV and corrosion.

Easy preparation and application
Of course, if the damage is structural, it often entails cutting out old parts and replacing them with new ones. This work is likely to require the use of high-strength panel bonders and impact-resistant structural adhesives.

With regard to the former, not only is TEROSON EP 5055 a faster, less labour-intensive solution than traditional mechanical fastening methods such as welding, it also has the versatility to work on various substrates, making it first choice for metal bonding jobs. The product can join dissimilar substrates, while offering unimpaired structural integrity and excellent corrosion prevention.

For structural replacement work, body shops need a strong and reliable bonder that will not require a reworking of the job further down the line. Here, TEROSON EP 5065 is an impact-resistant structural bonding adhesive that provides staff with a fast and reliable way to replace those critical structural safety parts.

Fast smart repair
To ensure consistently reliable and high-quality repairs, LOCTITE 3090 is a two-part, fast-curing, gap-filling adhesive with excellent bonding characteristics, making it perfect for a variety of substrates that include plastics, rubbers and metals. It is ideal for the assembly of parts with varying or undefined bond gaps up to 5 mm, or for applications where the complete cure of excess adhesive is a must.

Small repair tasks, such as mending broken bumper clips or other components of similar complexity are, for the most part, uncomplicated. However, depending on the adhesive and application method, repair time and results may vary.

Ultimately, Henkel’s portfolio of collision repair products allows professional body shops and commercial vehicle workshops to perform rebuild, replace and repair tasks that leave the affected areas looking as good as new.
