Harvest Polymers enters construction sealant market with Nexprene®1500 series LCOF grade for window and door seals

Harvest Polymers principal TRS in the US has launched anew range of low coefficient of friction grades that provide seal manufacturers with easier installation and improved resistance to grease and dirt adherence.

NexPrene® 1500 series compounds are pre-coloured thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV’s) with a highly favourable low coefficient of friction (LCOF) to provide easier installation, less sliding resistance and greater dirt resistance than traditional TPV materials.

The new NexPrene® Series 1500A LCOF Series TPV, developed expressly for the construction industry for use in seals and gaskets, offers all the benefits of other materials without the manufacturing drawbacks PLUS a variety of additional benefits. These fully vulcanized EPDM/polypropylene-based compounds offer tight seals with long-term resistance to compression set and superior U.V. stability. Advantages begin with, as compared to polychloroprene rubber and EPDM, vastly improved processing flexibility and simplicity plus reduced cycle times, reduced scrap and the material is recyclable. Design of finished parts can be improved because the compound during processing can meet tighter dimensional tolerances, thinner sections because of greater material stiffness.

NexPrene® 1500A LCOF Series is available in natural, black, white or pre-coloured to any specific custom colour for more pleasing aesthetics. Furthermore, NexPrene® 1500A LCOF Series meets the AAMA-702 fenestration weather-seal specification.

Further, during the assembly of windows and doors, the wide range of softness grades 40 Shore A to 50 Shore D coupled with the low coefficient of friction provides reduction in the force it takes to insert the weather stripping or glazing. Inherent properties of the material allows the seals to remain cleaner, in that NexPrene® 1500A LCOF Series TPV’s pick up far less dirt both in assembly and service life

TRS, founded in the year 2000, has continued to make serious inroads into existing and new markets with its growing lines of NexPrene® TPV’s for automotive, construction and building products, weather seals and other product applications. Company products have received nearly record-breaking acceptance, certification or recognition across numerous industries and among some of the world’s largest companies. NexPrene products range in hardness from Shore 40A to 50D, and offer outstanding mechanical properties and rapid cycle times - for improved performance and productivity to stay ahead of the competition.
