GREAT LAKES INCREASES PRICES FOR FIREMASTER® 2100 FLAME RETARDANT

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced it is increasing off-list prices for Firemaster® 2100 (decabromodiphenylethane) flame retardant by $0.20/kg worldwide with all shipments effective July 1, 2005, where contracts allow.

The company stated that this action is necessary due to the continuing escalation for key raw materials, energy and transportation costs.

Great Lakes Firemaster 2100 is used in the manufacture of flame retardant polymers in electronics, wire and cable, building and construction and transportation markets. Firemaster 2100 is known for its versatility as a flame retardant across a wide range of applications.
