GREAT LAKES ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASE FOR POLYMER STABILIZERS

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA—Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced it will increase prices worldwide for its polymer stabilizer additives, effective for shipments after June 1, 2005, or where contracts allow.

Prices will increase for Great Lakes polymer stabilizer product groups as follows:

• Main antioxidants including Anox® 20, Anox® PP-18, Alkanox® 240, and Alkanox® TNPP will increase by 10%

• Hindered amine light stabilizers including Lowilite® 62, Lowilite® 77, Lowilite® 94, and Lowilite® 92 will increase by 5%

• Benzophenone UV absorbers including Lowilite® 20, Lowilite® 20S, Lowilite® 22, and Lowilite® 24 will increase by 10%

• Blends and No Dust Blends (NDB®) will increase an amount consistent with the increase in component pricing

The company stated that the new pricing is driven by continued escalation in the costs of petrochemical based raw materials, energy, and logistics.

Great Lakes antioxidants provide both processing and long-term heat stability to an extensive range of polymers. UV absorbers and hindered amine light stabilizers prevent polymer degradation due to UV radiation from sunlight and other sources.

Through its Polymer Additives division, Great Lakes offers a full line of UV stabilizers, antioxidants, nucleating agents and clarifiers, additive blends, and optical monomers, as well as a leading line of flame retardants that include bromine-, phosphorus-, and antimony-based flame retardants and other synergists.
