Distrupol adds new fluoropolymer to its Nordic product range

The Nordic division of Distrupol, a member company of Univar and a leading European polymer distributor, technical service and solutions provider, has added another fluoropolymer, Hylar® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), to an already comprehensive product portfolio through its recent appointment to represent Solvay Solexis.

Solvay Solexis was established by the Solvay Group on 1 January this year when it merged its own fluoropolymers activities with that of Ausimont, which it had acquired in May 2002. The concentration of this business made Solvay Solexis one of the global leaders in the production and marketing of fluorinated materials used in technically advanced applications.

The appointment of Distrupol to handle Solvay Solexis fluoropolymers in Denmark, Norway and Sweden is an expansion of Distrupol’s four year relationship with Solvay as distributor of its Benvic® family of PVC blends, some specific materials from Solvay advanced polymers and Solef® (PVDF) product ranges in the region. As a PVDF, Solef® has now joined Hylar® in the Solvay Solexis product basket handled by Distrupol.

According to Per Søndergaard, Solvay Nordic Sales Manager: “We have a very good and well-established working partnership with Distrupol. They understand our materials and our customers. Importantly, the company has storage and distribution centres in the key Nordic countries which assures customers of timely service and made Distrupol a logical choice for the new business.”

Thomas Andersson, Sales Director of Distrupol’s Nordic region, says: “Our appointment as distributor for Solvay Solexis provides a natural extension of existing business and adds an important fluoropolymer to our market offering. Hylar® PDVF complements the service we can deliver by further widening choice of material and performance properties for our customers.

“Because Hylar® is particularly suitable for applications subject to corrosive and aggressive environments, we see it as being of particular interest to customers engaged in the chemical processing, wire and cable, and piping and tubing sectors.”
