New logo for Distrupol: new image embodies a dynamic organisation growing as a single company
Following a series of business integrations and expansions over the last 18 months, Distrupol, a member company of Univar and a leading polymer distributor, technical service and solutions provider, is changing its logo and creating a new market image. The new logo signals a more dynamic, outward-looking image from Distrupol reflecting the company’s new spirit and sense of purpose.
The change is more than cosmetic. Although Distrupol operates in many markets, it will be forging ahead as a single company, bringing new ideas and a wider range of suppliers to its customers. The financial muscle provided by Univar, Distrupol’s new parent company will add further impetus to the organisations development greatly strengthening Distrupol’s position in Europe.
“We want to be the partner of choice for the world’s leading polymer suppliers,” says Distrupol Europe’s chief executive officer, David Jukes, “Bringing their products and the technical knowledge required for their use to our customers.”
As well as changing its logo, Distrupol, in common with all Univar businesses across Europe, is adopting a new company signature: Knowledge that delivers. This simple, three-word signature is perfectly suited to Distrupol. It clearly reflects the company’s knowledge, experience and commitment to market leadership in polymer distribution and its capability to supply the right plastics material for every application.
“We wanted a new image to complement the importance we place on supporting our customers’ product developments through our technical knowledge,” explains Jukes. “At the same time we want to emphasise the importance we place internally on our responsiveness.”
Distrupol has grown significantly and enhanced its presence in the plastics marketplace substantially in the last 18 months. In September 2001 it strengthened its leadership position in the market in Ireland through the acquisition of Extrapol, and it became the leading supplier in the Nordic region by combining the businesses of MBS Plastics and the company’s existing operations under the Distrupol name. In France a similar restructuring is taking place with the former polymer distribution business of Lambert Rivière being consolidated under Distrupol.
There is no doubt that these strategic moves have strengthened the position of Distrupol as one of the leading polymer distributors in Europe. Since Vopak divided into two separate companies in July 2002 with the creation of Univar – which has plastics and chemicals distribution as its core business – Distrupol has had the financial backing and greater marketing presence to enable it to focus on the key issues affecting its industry and its customers.
Distrupol has also, recently, supplemented its comprehensive materials portfolio by a series of exclusive distributorships with leading European polymer manufacturers:
• Solvay’s IXEF polyarylamide and Solef PVdF throughout Scandinavia;
• DSM’s Sarlink thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) in the UK, Ireland, Nordic region, Benelux and France;
• DuPont’s packaging and industrial polymers in the UK and Ireland;
• DuPont’s full range of engineering plastics in the UK, in addition to its existing sole-supplier agreement for Ireland and the Nordic market;
• Polimeri Europa’s synthetic elastomers in the UK;
• Elastogran’s Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The message to customers – and competitors – is clear and unambiguous. Distrupol has the knowledge and breadth of product to deliver technical service and support on a scale that is unrivalled for a polymer distributor in Europe. It also has the financial support of Univar to enable it to further its ambitions in the marketplace and provide an even more comprehensive service to its customers.
“It is the understanding of our products, our markets and a commitment to satisfying our customers that means Distrupol has the ability to deliver the correct product performance solutions for all applications,” asserts David Jukes
