Distrupol wins exclusive distributorship for Basell Moplen® PP resins in the UK, Ireland and Nordic markets
Leading European polymer distributor, Distrupol, has announced its appointment as exclusive distributor for Basell Moplen® polypropylene resins throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Nordic region.
The business win follows a strategic review by Basell of its product distribution structure in Europe, reducing the complexity stemming from the various positions inherited from Montell and Targor when both companies were merged to form Basell Polyolefins Company NV twelve months ago.
According to Freddy Van Hauwermeiren, Basell’s Vice-President Distributors: “To achieve a coherent streamlined system we sought to appoint a single distributor for each of our regions. We set tight criteria to be met by potential candidates that included the ability to handle volume transactions through ERP to ERP linkage, and that they had well-developed technical service capability to support customers with both application development and process optimisation.”
Distrupol was a strong contender from the outset. In addition to meeting the specified criteria the company already had a distribution track record with many of the products in Basell’s portfolio, having been the distributor for Targor in the UK and Ireland and Montell in the Nordic region via MBS Plastics. It also recently acquired Extrapol, the Irish distributor for Montell’s range of products.
“We welcome the appointment as Basell’s distributor”, says Distrupol CEO, Steve Bradbury. “It enables us to continue applying the knowledge we have developed in the products, and it maintains continuity in the relationships we have built with the processors and moulders using them. Importantly, the enhanced range of Basell’s resins are a complement to our product portfolio overall and extend the comprehensiveness of materials solutions we can deliver to customers in the UK, Ireland and the Nordic markets.”
Distrupol’s exclusive distribution agreement covers the full range of Moplen polypropylene resins, including the rebranded Targor’s Novolen products, Clyrell, a new generation of resins exhibiting outstanding optical and cold temperature impact resistance properties, Adstiff high-stiffness resins, resins from Basell’s Catalloy process for soft-feel and flexible applications, and Polybutene-1 resins for seal-peel, film modification, hot melt and polyolefin modification applications. The UK and Ireland will also handle the Hostacom range of glass fibre-reinforced and mineral filled grades for electrical appliances, as well as automotive interior and under-the-bonnet applications.
