Belden Enhances the Efficiency of Automation Networks

This operating system provides extensive redundancy and security functions that bring high network availability and data security, thus ensuring efficient production processes. Moreover, HiOS further extends the scope of applications for switches, particularly in the energy sector. Other areas such as the automotive and transportation industries can also benefit in terms of more efficient automation networks. HiOS 3.0 is available for Rail Switch Power (RSP), Rail Switch Power Lite (RSPL), Rail Switch Power Smart (RSPS) and Embedded Ethernet Switch (EES) families of switches plus modular MICE Switch Power (MSP) systems.

Belden Offers Efficient Solution for Power over Ethernet
St. Louis, Missouri - January 23, 2014 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, announces the availability of a new Hirschmann Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector. The new SPIDER Giga 2TX PoE EEC is an efficient solution for powering devices, such as IP cameras, IP telephones or WLAN access points. It makes it possible to expand networks, using PoE functionality without replacing any standard switches, so power can be transported directly via the data cable. As a result, there is no need for sockets/power lines for separate power supply units or PoE switches. The data port of the PoE injector, which supports Gigabit Ethernet, can simply be coupled with a standard switch, and the respective device connected to the PoE port. Since this port can supply up to 30 watts, even devices with higher power consumption can be powered.

Belden introduces new WLAN firmware that extends the useful life of industrial wireless devices
Neckartenzlingen, Germany - October 29, 2013 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has introduced Hirschmann HiLCOS 8.8, the latest version of its WLAN firmware to manage its highly successful range of OpenBAT industrial wireless devices. This version is an industry first as it supports IPv6, which is intended to replace IPv4. A key benefit is that the useful life of installed wireless devices can now be extended, as they will still be able to communicate via public WLAN networks for which IPv4 addresses are now no longer being allocated. Product Manager Pascal Unterdorfer explains: “The new HiLCOS 8.8 firmware opens up new possibilities for using WLAN in automation, for example, in power supply applications. These use public networks to control power distribution, making IPv6 routing an absolute must.”
