Belden presents new LioN-M modules from its Lumberg Automation™ product range.
(Photo: Belden, PR232)The new I/O modules from the LioN-M series of Belden’s Lumberg Automation™ portfolio enable sensors and actuators to be linked into real-time ProfiNet I/O networks, with their two-port switches (10/100 Mbps) that support both the real time (RT) and isochronous real time (IRT) standards. BOOTP (bootstrap protocol) and DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol) ensure fast and easy startup. Each of the 16 digital channels has a rated output current of up to 1.6A, with a maximum total current capacity of 9A. In the 0980 ESL 711 (16DI) module these channels can be used as inputs, and in the universal version 0980 ESL 700 (16DIO Universal) they can also be used as outputs in any combination. The easy diagnostic concept enables precise fault location for each individual port. Both modules facilitate line topologies and you can also continue to use existing communications structures such as cable ducts and energy chains without making any changes to their physical layout. This means that there is usually no need to install cost-intensive star cabling and additional switches. The universal module also offers the highest possible degree of flexibility, not only at the planning stage but also when making changes at the commissioning stage or during subsequent upgrades.

(Photo: Belden, PR212) Belden has added six new Fast Ethernet switches to the OCTOPUS range from its Hirschmann™ product series. Thanks to an integrated power supply unit these switches take up less space than designs with an external power supply and also require less cabling, which reduces possible error sources and thus increases the operational reliability of the connected terminal equipment. Three of the switches are unmanaged 10-port devices. The others have nine ports and feature layer 2 basic software from Hirschmann™, incorporating a variety of management and security functions and fast redundancy methods. Both the 9-port and the 10-port switches are available with or without PoE functionality and either a 24V or 110V power supply unit. The PoE versions are fanless with additional cooling fins, which provide effective temperature management resulting in longer lifecycles. All six switches have robust, compact die-cast zinc housings and are designed to operate at temperatures in the range -40°C to +70°C. They also fulfill the EMC and fireproofing requirements of the European standards that govern use in rail vehicles.

Belden has extended its Hirschmann™ product program to include Ethernet switches from the new RSP family.
(Photo: Belden, PR210) Belden has extended its Hirschmann™ product program to include Ethernet switches from the new RSP family. These are especially designed for use in the field-level networks of power supply companies, but they also can be used in any situation where uninterrupted communication is required, for instance for mechanical engineering projects or drives for production facilities. These extremely robust fanless switches have eleven ports, three of which can be used for SFP transceivers. These support Fast (100 BASE-FX) or – optionally – Gigabit Ethernet (100/1000 BASE-FX). The remaining eight ports can be used either for 100 BASE-TX or as a combination of four SFP transceivers and four TX ports. Additional features of these switches include comprehensive management, diagnostic and filter functions plus a variety of redundancy methods and markedly expanded security mechanisms. In addition to the standard configuration, Hirschmann™ also offers a version that supports highly precise synchronization compliant with IEEE 1588v2, plus PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) and HSR (High-availability Seamless Redundancy). This means that, for the first time, it is now possible to implement networks that guarantee uninterrupted data communications with the attached systems and can thus – in the case of the electricity supply industry – guarantee reliable power supplies to end customers at all times.
