Barlo Plastics becomes leading supplier of extruded acrylic sheet by acquiring slovakian PMMA extruder

Geel, Belgium, november 2000. Barlo Plastics Europe, the european leader in manufacturing transparent plastic sheets, announces today the acquisition of all production and sales activities of PCHZ-Akryl a.s. through PSC s.r.o.. The business will become part of Barlo Plastics Europe, as Barlo Plastics Slovakia.

Consideration in respect of PSC’s share capital will be up to €7.8 million and, in addition, Barlo Group will discharge intercompany and third party indebtedness of €5.8 million. €5.6 million of the consideration in respect of share capital has been paid on completion; the balance (up to €2.2 million) will be payable in instalments over the next six months. Barlo Plastics becomes the leading supplier of extruded acrylic sheet by this acquisition.

PCHZ- Akryl is engaged in the production of PMMA resins and PMMA extruded sheets,with an extended range of dimensions and colours. The company is based in Zilina, Slovakia, approximately 200km north-east of Bratislava. It has a workforce of 120 employees. The current Managing Director, Elo Striezenec, of the business will join Barlo Plastics’ management team.

PCHZ-Akryl has well developed manufacturing technology and experience in this sector. The company has very important channels-to-market into mid and eastern Europe. This gives Barlo Plastics an excellent opportunity for expanding sales through these extensive sales channels into the significant eastern european market for its other plastic sheets.
