Axxicon Mould Technology delivers high performance moulds for Infocom
This two-cavity mould for a mobile telephone rear cover, has complex 3 dimensional geometry with many internal and external side cores and is fed through a direct valve gate hot runner system. Driven by a rigidity requirement the component application demanded a heavily loaded moulding material, to combat wear the mass production variants are manufactured from high performance mould steels.
The mould is one of a repeat series of identical moulds that offer complete cavity to cavity interchangeability. It was manufactured at Axxicon Moulds Cleveleys Limited, based in the UK, utilising a dedicated EDM production cell, which operates in a network that includes off line programming, pre-setting, job management and automated work piece and electrode handling.
According to Martyn Robinson of Axxicon Mould Technology, the company specialises in providing high performance repeat series moulds with cavity to cavity interchangeability for Infocom applications: "This sector demands delivery with very short lead times and requires first class cosmetic appearance and critical dimensional accuracy. Axxicon Mould Technology works closely with moulding companies and end users to ensure efficient and economical design, engineering and production to minimise the time to market."
Where needed, Axxicon delivers innovative production solutions for In Mould Label (IML), In Mould Gate Cutting and thin walled applications. In addition to mould engineering and leading edge automated manufacture, Axxicon also offers on-site testing, inspection, development, mould validation and pre-production runs as well as customer support with detailed mould manuals, maintenance and spare parts.
