Akcros Chemicals chooses K2001 to exhibit under Akzo Nobel banner for the first time
Akcros Chemicals will be exhibiting under the banner of its parent company, Akzo Nobel, for the first time since mid-1998 when they agreed to purchase the remaining fifty-percent of the joint venture from its partner Elementis.
Akzo Nobel will be located in Hall 5, Stand 5A03 at K2001, the industry’s largest international triennial exhibition staged in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 25 to November 1.
Akcros Chemicals, a pre-eminent name in the industry and one of Europe’s largest suppliers of polymer additives will be demonstrating its leadership in this field along with the Polymer Chemicals and Functional Chemicals businesses of Akzo Nobel thus promoting one of the widest product ranges of raw materials and additives in the international marketplace.
Offering one of the most comprehensive ranges of additives currently available, the Akcros product portfolio includes, stabilisers, lubricants, plasticisers, biocides, anti-static agents and rheology modifiers.
Akcros Chemicals' high performance polymer additives find widespread application in the manufacture and processing of PVC, polyolefins, polystyrene, ABS and other thermoplastic materials. In Europe, the company is one of the largest suppliers of additives to the PVC processing industry and the company is committed to expanding that leadership globally.
As a result of this commitment Akcros has pioneered many new technologies. These include:
Development of polymer additives in totally non-dusting, melt forms.
Rigid PVC stabilisation in form of one packs, free from lead, barium and cadmium.
Liquid mixed metal stabilisers with extremely low content of volatile solvents and of free phenol.
All of these innovations contribute to greater environmental acceptability. Moreover, Akcros additives, which can be tailored to specific application requirements, provide lubricity, heat and colour stability, UV and corrosion resistance, and increased resistance to ageing.
Akcros products have been developed for rigid PVC applications including pipes and ducting, window profiles, automotive profiles, furniture and building cladding, and for flexible applications such as packaging films, wire and cable sheathing, wall and floor coverings, fabrics and footwear.
The Akcros range includes a number of product groups, each of which comprises a family of individual products, enabling the formulator to select the characteristics necessary to meet his or her precise processing requirements. Key product groups include LANKROMARK®, TINSTAB®, INTERLITE®, INTERSTAB®, INTERCIDE®, VULCABOND®, LANKROFLEX®, LANKROSTAT® and INTERWAX®.
LANKROMARK® is a family of liquid mixed-metal heat stabilisers. They predominantly include barium-zinc and calcium-zinc stabilisers, as well as stabiliser/activators for PVC foams, and long established barium-cadmium-zinc products. The calcium-zinc range includes a number of 'low-toxic grades'. LANKROMARK® stabilisers have been developed to give a wide spectrum of processing and end-use performance characteristics to meet the range of market requirements.
In both self-lubricating and non-lubricating forms LANKROMARK® products find application in a wide range of flexible PVC products: from floor and wall coverings to coatings for tarpaulins. The low toxic calcium-zinc grades are used in processing materials for applications such as children's toys and food contact components.
A new addition to the range, to be highlighted at K2001, will be LANKROMARK LZB292. This is a barium-zinc liquid specifically designed for use in filled PVC formulations for floor coverings manufactured using the calendered process. Key benefits include very long thermal stability, low volatility and very low free phenol content thus providing significantly reduced odour during processing. In addition, LANKROMARK LZB292 delivers good colour hold in white pigmented compounds.
TINSTAB® is a family of organotin stabilisers, mercaptides and carboxylates. These high efficiency heat stabilisers are optimised f
