Specialty stabilizers from Akcros Chemicals America now commercially available

Akcros Chemicals America recently made a range of new INTERSTAB® heat stabilizers designed for very specific flexible PVC applications more generally available to the industry as a whole. These liquid barium-zinc based stabilizers were developed at the specific request of a select group of North American processors and target several different critical specialty applications.

INTERSTAB 5203 is now available in commercial quantities for producing thin gauge bluish tinted whites for infant/child seating and nursery items. It provides critical color tint stability in thin gauge calendered films and has been formulated for optimum print adhesion characteristics to make complex high-speed print applications easier.

In some calendered or extruded films, such as those for garment bags or re-usable packaging, odor is a critical factor. Here, Akcros America's INTERSTAB 5216 provides the solution. It uses special diluents instead of the usual aromatic hydrocarbons, which enables this stabilizer/epoxy soya blend to be used in even the most sensitive of applications.

INTERSTAB 5206 is designed for extruded and blown film processing and provides excellent clarity as well as optimum thermal and processing qualities. This makes it an ideal stabilizer for thin gauge packaging, such as that for candles or flowers. INTERSTAB 5206 has high dyne levels, which aid ink adhesion, especially at rapid print application speeds or elevated application temperatures.
