SABIC Innovative Plastics’ Tough Lexan* Sheet for Train Window Frames Helps Plexx Stay on Track with Lower Costs and Streamlined Production
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – November 9, 2010 – At K 2010, SABIC Innovative Plastics today announced that its new ultra-tough, flame-retardant (FR) Lexan* F6000 polycarbonate (PC) sheet has been chosen by Plexx AS, a leading Norwegian plastics converter, to thermoform the first European passenger train window frames. The frames will be used in Norwegian State Railways train cabins. This advanced, tailor-made PC material replaces sheet molded composite (SMC) for significantly improved performance and faster cycle times, while avoiding the multiple secondary operations required for SMC. SABIC Innovative Plastics is helping customers succeed in the highly competitive transportation sector with advanced solutions that provide high performance, system cost savings, and superior end-product differentiation vs. thermoset materials. NEW MOOG SPEED CONTROLLED PUMP SYSTEM CUTS ENERGY USE IN HYDRAULIC PLASTICS MACHINES
BÖBLINGEN, 4 November 2010 – Moog has unveiled a new pump system at K-2010 that will provide injection molding and blow molding machine builders with a motion control solution that can lower energy consumption in hydraulic machines by 30 percent or more when compared to traditional approaches and ultimately reduce the total cost of ownership. Moog, a specialist in high performance motion control for machine builders in a variety of industrial applications, is now offering a complete integrated system called the Moog Speed Controlled Pump System that is based on three of Moog’s proven products. The system includes a fixed displacement Radial Piston Pump (RKP), a Maximum Dynamic Brushless Servo Motor and a Modular Multi-axis Programmable Motion Control Servodrive (MSD). The unique functionality of this system is the ability to allow users to change the speed of the motor and pump thereby controlling the fluid flow. The resulting machine is more energy efficient and this new system also provides optimized system performance and easier setup for operators.
