PROTECTIVE SUIT SPECIALIST TST DOES BRAND DEAL WITH DSM DYNEEMA
URMOND (NL), 2 August 2010- Protective suit specialist TST Sweden has signed a licensing agreement with fiber manufacturer DSM Dyneema that will enable them to use the Dutch company’s distinctive trademark on their multilayer water-jet protective suits made with the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene Dyneema® fiber.

The RVR is the second fender success for the Mitsubishi/SABIC Innovative Plastics relationship, which first gave consumers the Delica D:5 minivan in 2007, also sporting front fenders molded from Noryl GTX resin. By replacing steel with this high-performance resin, Mitsubishi slashed weight by almost 50 percent and achieved a unique and highly complex geometry to differentiate the new vehicle’s styling and improve pedestrian safety compliance. Noryl GTX resin continues to capture increased attention in automotive body panels, underscoring SABIC Innovative Plastics’ drive to create new cutting-edge automotive solutions.

DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASES FOR ARNITEL AND ARNITE
As a result of continued escalations in the costs of key raw materials and further investments in innovations, DSM Engineering Plastics will increase prices on a global basis for its Arnitel® and Arnite® products. Effective 1 August 2010, DSM will increase prices for these products by 10%.

KISSsoft AG and SABIC Innovative Plastics Help Diverse Industries Green Up for Metal-to-Plastic Conversion with Data on Specialty Compounds
BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – July 29, 2010 – SABIC Innovative Plastics, a world leader in engineering thermoplastic solutions, has collaborated with Swiss software maker KISSsoft AG to take the guesswork out of plastic gear design. To accelerate the trend toward replacing metals with high-performance, durable and versatile thermoplastic compounds, KISSsoft is now applying gear sizing calculations for 17 grades of SABIC Innovative Plastics’ LNP* specialty compounds, including high-temperature, internally lubricated and fiber-reinforced grades. Now, engineers and designers can replace trial and error with validated data on parameters such as strength, temperature resistance and tooth flank wear to significantly streamline their gear design process. Clariant further improves profitability based on better demand and reduced cost base
· Q2 sales up 20% in local currencies and 18% in CHF as global economic activity continued to rebound year on year
· Q2 operating income before exceptional items rose to CHF 211 million compared to CHF 69 million a year ago and CHF 183 million in the first quarter, mainly driven by higher sales volumes
· Q2 operating income margin before exceptional items reached 11.1% compared to 4.3% a year ago
· Q2 cash flow from operations amounted to CHF 33 million from CHF 184 million in the previous year given a volume-related temporary increase in inventories and trade receivables
· Outlook: Against the backdrop of an anticipated softening of the global economy, Clariant expects lower sales growth in the second half of the year with demand remaining solid. Clariant guides for sales growth in the high-single digit percentage range and an operating margin before exceptionals for the full-year above 8%.
