BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – November 6, 2009 – SABIC Innovative Plastics’ tough, lightweight Noryl* GTX resin was recognized today for its key role in helping General Motors (GM) 1987 MY Buick® LeSabre® T-Type fenders win the coveted Hall of Fame Award from the Automotive Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE®). Presented to GM for the sports coupe fenders, the award is given annually to an iconic and innovative application that has been in continuous use for more than 15 years, delivered a value proposition that could not be met by traditional materials, and has been broadly adopted within the automotive or ground-transportation industries. The Hall of Fame Award will be presented to GM in Livonia, Mich. on Nov. 12, 2009 at the 39th annual SPE Innovation Awards Gala. The SPE Automotive Innovation Awards Competition is the oldest and largest recognition event in the automotive and plastics industries.

Clariant steigert operative Rentabilität und operativen Cashflow trotz schwacher Nachfrage
· Umsatzrückgang im dritten Quartal um 14% in Lokalwährungen und um 19% in Schweizer Franken
· Operatives Ergebnis vor Einmaleffekten sank auf CHF 107 Millionen im Vergleich zu CHF 178 Millionen im dritten Quartal 2008, verbesserte sich aber im Vergleich zu CHF 69 Millionen im zweiten Quartal 2009
· Operativer Cashflow stieg auf CHF 193 Millionen im Vergleich zu CHF 147 Millionen im Vorjahreszeitraum
· Nettoverschuldung sank auf CHF 751 Millionen von CHF 1 209 Millionen Ende 2008
· Ausblick: Für das Gesamtjahr 2009 erwartet Clariant, dass die Umsätze in Lokalwährungen gegenüber 2008 um 16% bis 20% zurückgehen. Der Cashflow dürfte angesichts der weiterhin konsequenten Reduzierung des Nettoumlaufvermögens stark bleiben. Im traditionellerweise schwachen vierten Quartal erwartet Clariant ein verbessertes operatives Ergebnis vor Einmaleffekten im Vergleich zum vierten Quartal 2008

KELTAN® MULTI-PURPOSE HIGH PERFORMANCE GRADE DELIVERS LOWEST SYSTEMS COST
Geleen, 03 November 2009 – Following the introduction of a developmental grade earlier this year, DSM Elastomers has now officially launched Keltan® 8642A, a fast curing, high green strength ENB grade with very good filler and plasticizer acceptance. The new grade is particularly suitable for extrusion and molding applications with high level of fillers, such as solid sealing systems.
