Clariant with Improved Operating Profitability and Cash Flow on Weak Demand
· Sales in Q3 down 14% in local currency and 19% in CHF
· Operating income before exceptional items decreased to CHF 107 million from CHF 178 million in the third quarter 2008, but improved from CHF 69 million in the second quarter 2009
· Cash flow from operations improved to CHF 193 million from CHF 147 million in the previous-year period
· Net debt reduced to CHF 751 million from CHF 1 209 million at year-end 2008
· Outlook: For the full year 2009, Clariant expects sales in local currencies to decrease 16-20% compared to 2008. Cash flow is expected to remain strong as a result of ongoing stringent net working capital management. In the traditionally weak fourth quarter, Clariant expects an improved operating income before exceptional items compared to the fourth quarter of 2008

KELTAN® MULTI-PURPOSE HIGH PERFORMANCE GRADE DELIVERS LOWEST SYSTEMS COST
Geleen, 03 November 2009 – Following the introduction of a developmental grade earlier this year, DSM Elastomers has now officially launched Keltan® 8642A, a fast curing, high green strength ENB grade with very good filler and plasticizer acceptance. The new grade is particularly suitable for extrusion and molding applications with high level of fillers, such as solid sealing systems.

Rapid embarks on reconstruction procedure
Bredaryd – 02 November 2009 - Rapid Granulator AB has been granted a suspension of old debts by the District Court of Jönköping Sweden. This has no affect on daughter companies or other partners but is only affecting the Swedish company. The court has granted permission for a so-called reconstruction procedure which – under Swedish law - allows the company to continue its business. This means the company will continue to carry out their business as usual, including the fulfilment of all service contracts, product guarantees and obligations.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, Países Bajos – 28 de octubre de 2009 – SABIC Innovative Plastics ha presentado hoy una nueva tecnología de copolímeros: las resinas especiales de copolímero Lexan* HFD, un material innovador que ofrece a los clientes una elevada fluidez en el procesado sin las tradicionales disminuciones de robustez y una mejorada ductilidad sin afectar la fluidez del material fundido. Estos materiales se basan en la incomparable transparencia, la extrema robustez y el elevado rendimiento por los que es conocida la resina de policarbonato (PC) Lexan.
