HIGHEST EUROPEAN AUTHORITY UPHOLDS DSM DYNEEMA PATENT
URMOND (NL), 8 December 2008 - DSM Dyneema, inventor and manufacturer of Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fiber®, has won a victory before the European Patent Office Boards of Appeal. The company received notification in November 2008 that it had successfully defended its patent for panels incorporating high-performance Dyneema® fiber against a challenge from Teijin Aramid (formerly Teijin Twaron), a Dutch supplier of rival fiber products. The panels made with Dyneema® are used in such applications as bullet-resistant vests and vehicle armor.

INDIAN ARMY VEHICLES PROTECTED AGAINST MINES BY DYNEEMA®
URMOND (NL), 4 December 2008 - In the first large public tender of its type in South Asia, Ordnance Factory, India, has chosen and specified Dyneema® HB26 unidirectional (UD) composite from DSM Dyneema for armoring mine protected vehicles for the Indian Army. Ultra-strong, lightweight Dyneema® HB26 was selected due to its robust ballistic performance combined with additional advantages, such as high stiffness, excellent acoustic and flame-retardant properties, to ensure superior quality and protection. The DSM material is being used by Anjani Technoplast Limited, a leading manufacturer based in Delhi, India, to supply protective, rigid panels to Ordnance Factory, India.

Per i modelli Twingo e Kangoo, Renault sfrutta i vantaggi di peso e di design offerti dal Noryl GTX* di SABIC Innovative Plastics
BERGEN OP ZOOM, Paesi Bassi – 2 dicembre 2008 – L’uso della resina ad alte prestazioni Noryl GTX* per la realizzazione di parafanghi e altri pannelli della carrozzeria consente una riduzione del peso e una maggiore libertà di design, vantaggi oramai dimostrati da oltre 12 milioni di veicoli in circolazione nel mondo. Forte dei lunghi anni di successo nell’impiego di questa resina di SABIC Innovative Plastics, la casa automobilistica francese Renault ha ora applicato questa tecnologia anche a due dei suoi modelli più recenti. I modelli Twingo 2007 e Kangoo 2008 sono i gli ultimi veicoli Renault i cui parafanghi sono realizzati in leggera resina Noryl GTX, robusta e durevole, invece che in acciaio. Rispetto all’acciaio, questa tecnologia ad alte prestazioni ha consentito a Renault di ridurre il peso dei parafanghi del 50% circa e di ottenere una migliore resistenza agli urti a bassa velocità.

Borouge and Agility break ground for the new logistics hub and compound manufacturing unit in Shanghai
